Lyla has been attending her college lectures this week, nevertheless, it was only Wednesday, but she was making progress. Though, during philosophy, the class had a discussion about the afterlife.
The discussion quickly shifted into a debate when Christianity went against spirituality, two girls both from different backgrounds arguing about what the afterlife held for them. One argued that after we die, we spend the rest of our lives either in heaven or hell, while the opposing side explained the theory of past life regression.
It was a very interesting conversation that Lyla was glad she got to witness, of course, she would have spoken up if she wasn't in a room full of thirty plus students that all were strangers to her. Lyla rather not stumble over her words and freeze up as her face would turn red with every body's eyes on her.
If she chose to speak, Lyla would have mediated the situation and accented how she thinks that both sides are relevant. Even growing up with a religious mother, as she got older Lyla started to form her own beliefs that were a lot less fixated than what she was taught. She believed that whether our spirits are older or new, they will always continue their life on earth to learn from their past mistakes.
There's a theory that our fears are our fears because of events that happened in past lives, and we're simply trying to avoid it as best as we can.
Too bad Michael skipped, he missed the fight he's been anticipating for the past few weeks. Speaking of Michael, neither Lyla nor Maria have seen much of him lately. The boy is usually always hanging around the girls every day of the week, now, due to his minor absence, it felt as if he'd fallen off the face of the earth.
Lyla took her time walking back to the dorms, Maria wouldn't be home for around another hour, Michael – as said before – hasn't been hanging around as much, and Calum, well Calum was still probably cleaning up the frat house while trying to figure out his notes. Maybe since that Lyla had been going to classes her Michael time had been cut in half, after all, she spent the last two days sleeping until late evening once arriving home to the dorms.
While the girl strolled through the university grounds, she observed all the people that passed her by, all who lived separate lives that will remain a mystery to Lyla for the rest of her life.
Ten minutes later and Lyla was in front of the familiar wooden door, she and Maria had always talked about decorating their door, except they never acted on that idea because they couldn't come up with a good idea without it making them out to be those girls. The type of friends everyone hated back in middle school for always being together. Besides, the amount of backlash the girls would receive from the boys was imagined to be unbearable.
Lyla pushed open the door, kicking off her shoes and dumping her bag on the floor next to the bed before crashing onto the mattress. The tranquil peace surrounded the girl, left alone to relax and unwind for a few short minutes until the door flung open.
"I will strangle him with my bare hands!"
"What did Michael do now?" Lyla mumbled turning her head to look at her best friend who muttered a line of curses.
"He's acting so weird," Maria explained, walking into the bathroom before continuing, "and he's being mean! Like what did it do?" She yelled, "Oh, on top of it all, Calum knows why Mikey is so bitchy and he won't tell me!"
Lyla had an idea to the reason for Michael's newfound strange behaviour, the last few days Maria's been spending more time around Josh and his friends. From what Lyla has been told, the other group of friends don't do much, they hang out in Josh's shared apartment and hangout. She put everything together and arrived at the assumption that Michael was jealous and hated being around a girl who he might have no chance with.
