Luke spent hours staring at the blank screen of his phone trying to come up with a message to send Lyla. It has been two days since Calum had given Luke the girl's number, and so far, Luke has done nothing with it. The blond isn't the only one who is stuck in the rut, Calum has been pacing back and forth about losing twenty dollars based on the bets that were placed.

Sure twenty-dollars isn't a lot, but it is when someone's dignity and pride is on the line. Having a group of friends like Calum does makes it hard sometimes, he will absolutely be obliterated by the bunch. Calum regretted undershooting, even if he did win, no one would think twice to bash Ashton the same way they'll do him– unlike the rest of them, Ashton was smart.

"Can you hurry up and text her?" Calum grunted, Luke blankly staring at his phone screen was not helping anyone, especially Calum. Michael and Ashton have been enjoying the boy's persistence on quickening the process of getting his two best friends together. "We're running out time Luke."

The blond stared at his friend, eyebrows furrowed and the familiar frown on his features. "What the hell does that mean?"

Calum knew he needed to improvise because there was no way he was going to fall victim to an angry Luke Hemmings... again. "Fine!" Calum huffed, "Continue staring at your phone for the next two hours. I guess Lyla will go hang out with some other underground boxer, I hear Harry's her type." He said, placing his hands on his hips and growing pleased as he saw Luke's face fall in the slightest.

"Oh, now you're pushing it," Michael spoke jumping off the sofa after pausing the intense game of Mario cart. Calum wasn't playing fair, pushing Luke's buttons is not part of the agreement. "Oh–um," he coughed realising the outside party in the room. "I mean– Lyla already likes this fucker, she does not need another illegal fighter in her life," Michael explained.

Ashton took this as the opportunity to jump into the conversation. X

Compared to the other two boys, he wasn't so fixed on winning the petty bet they placed less than forty-eight hours ago. Before Luke could react, "Alright guys, let's calm down, no one wants a broken nose now do we?" He joked, stepping in between Calum and Luke.

"Well if Luke would stop being such a pussy and text Lyla, we won't have this problem," Calum remarked. He loved to push Luke as much as he could, the blond could be so clouded by pride and something a little like texting a girl will not be the thing that taints it.

"You know what," Luke groaned, striding towards Calum and getting gently stopped by Ashton. "Fuck you Calum, you want me to text her, I'll fucking text her." He stated, pulling his phone from his pocket and typing the message he'd been so hesitant to send. The text marked delivered and the deed had been done, now all Luke had to do was wait.

Calum laughed – out of pity – a tactic to piss Luke off more, he grabbed the device from his best friends hand to view the text himself. Unimpressed, Calum placed the phone back in Luke's hand. "Really, you texted her, 'hey it's Luke'." He said, rolling his eyes.

Michael snorted, causing Luke to spin around, "What?" He said raising his hands in defence, "It's quite pathetic."

"Michael, you know you're the last person that has a say in what's pathetic or not." Luke retorted, his comment managed to shut the red-haired boy up because he knew that Luke was right. "What else am I supposed to say?"

"I don't know," Ashton shrugged, "maybe you could have asked her to hang out or something." He suggested, "I don't think it's too late to do so."

Michael whined, "Ash, are you trying to mess things up?" He was frustrated that Ashton was helping Calum get closer to his win, for all they know Lyla and Luke could get together in a week. That would ruin Maria and Michaels bet for December and Ashtons for later in the new year.
