Rehearsal went by fast, and soon it was almost time for the dance.
You went to the Hyland's cause that's where you all were getting ready.
Even Mackenzie came.
"Mom's going out with Greg again, so Kelly's watching me." She had said.
You put your dress on, and Maddie did your hair. Brooke did your makeup, and you thought you were ready.
"Wait, (Y/N)! I have a little finishing touch." Paige said, running up to you.
She pulled out a flower crown.
"Wow! Paige, did you make this?" You asked her.
"Yeah. It was nothing much. I know how to make them." She beamed.
"Thank you. I feel very flowery!" You laughed.
It was true. You were wearing a flower crown, and flower dress, and a floral bracelet, and floral earrings. And you had a floral clutch.
"Yeah well." Paige laughed.
Josh was already at the dance, with his friends, so you would meet him there.
You said goodbye to Kenzie, and she said this, "I hate being the youngest."
"Hey. When Maddie's 50, you'll be 49." You said.
"How does that make me feel better?" She asked.
"Well Kenz, 50 is the year you turn really old." You said.
"Sweet!" Mackenzie said.
"Kenzie, I'm gonna put in the Little Mermaid for you." Kelly said.
"Kelly! I'm not 5!" Kenz groaned.
"Fine, I'll put in Mean Girls." She said.
"Now that's what I'm talking about." She smiled.
Before you left, Mackenzie said, "(Y/N), you really look great. Josh would be dumb to not kiss you tonight."
"Thanks." You said.
"No prob."
Kelly put in the movie for her, and drove you all to the dance.
"Have fun kids," she said when she dropped you off, "but not too much fun."
"Mom! We'll be fine!" Paige groaned.
"Ok. Love you."
"Love you too mom." Brooke said.
Kelly drove off, leaving the 6 of you.
You spotted Kendall, with her date, Michael.
She gave a little wave, and you waved back.
Then Josh came up to you.
"Wow." Was all he could say.
"Wow good, or wow bad?" You asked.
"Wow good, of course." Josh said, blushing.
"Thanks." You said.
"You look stunning." He said.
"You are a hopeless romantic." Paige laughed.
"I know." He said.
"Wanna dance?" He asked, holding his hand out.
"Sure." You smiled, and grabbed his hand.
"You know, you're very flowery tonight." He laughed.
"Yeah well." You laughed.
"It's cute." He said.
"Thanks." You blushed.
You and Josh danced for awhile, and he pulled you away.
"Where are we going?" You asked.
"Somewhere. Be patient." He said.
He lead you to a hugs garden, with all sorts of beautiful flowers.
"Wow." Was all you could say.
"Wow good, or wow bad?" Josh teased.
"Oh you know what I mean!" You laughed.
"I didn't know the school had this." You said.
"Neither did I. But they show it to the eighth graders every year and make them plant." He said.
"It's gorgeous." You said.
"Just like you." You heard Josh say.
"You really are a hopeless romantic." You smiled.
"What can I say? I really love you." He said.
"Man you are just pouring your heart out." You said.
Josh chuckled, and pulled out his phone, and stated playing 'You and Me' by Lifehouse.
"May I have this dance." He said.
"Sure." You said taking his hand.
You slow danced for awhile, then it happened.
The thing that changed you and Josh's friendship.
Another kiss.
You pulled apart, and looked into each other's eyes, and kissed again.
"I love you." Josh whispered.
"I love you too." You smiled.
You for awhile, then the song ended.
"Kenzie was right." You said.
"What?" He asked.
"Mackenzie. She said you'd be dumb not kiss me tonight." You laughed.
"Good ole' Kenz." He laughed.
"(Y/N)?" He asked.
"Yeah?"
"Will you be my girlfriend?" He asked.
A smile appeared on your face.
"Yeah. I'd love to be your girlfriend." You grinned.
"This is the best day of my life!" Josh sang.
"Wanna go back to the dance?" You asked.
"Anything for my girlfriend." Josh said.
"I like the sound of that." You said.
"Me too." Josh smiled.
The two of you walked back into the courtyard hand in hand, and everyone knew you were exclusive.
"OMG! You're gonna be my sister-in-law!" Paige squealed.
"Whoa Paige, don't get too ahead of yourself." You chuckled.
Just then, Kendall pulled you aside.
"I wanted to say good luck against the rotten apples this weekend." She said.
"Thanks." You said.
"And I talked to my mom, and we're gonna be at pyramid on Monday." She grinned.
"Good luck." You said.
"I know. I'm actually really scared." She shuddered.
"It's alright." You said.
"We'll go get back to Josh." She said.
"And go get back to Michael." You smiled.
You two went your separate ways, and Josh found you.
"Hey girlfriend." He said.
"Well hey there boyfriend." You chuckled.
"Let's dance." He said.
You two danced the night away.
It was by far the best night you've had in a long time.
You caught up Sophie, talked to he girls, and even got yourself a boyfriend.
You didn't want this moment to end.
But you left for Ohio the next day.
