Dexter, a 21 year old guy moved into California after he murdered his ex-girlfriend. They were together for three years and he was supposed to propose to her that night, but he found out that she's been sleeping with four other men. Dexter killed her and threw her body in the river. Unfortunately, a homeless little girl happened to see it, so he had no choice but to shoot her and she also died. He left the body there, and tossed the gun into the river.
Now that he is in New York, he can finally start a new life. After a month of living in New York, he finally had everything in place. He kept a low profile, just in case. He's living in an apartment with his parrot, Perky , he got a decent job, and so far his crime is irrelevant in New York since it hasn't been seen on any news.
But things got weird after a week.
Perky was always left alone, and that is why he can't speak any coherent words. Dexter wasn't always paying attention to the parrot, except for the times he was feeding Perky and greeting him before and after leaving to work. But one time, he just got home and when he greeted Perky, the parrot said 'I saw what you did.'
Dexter didn't mind it at first. Maybe the parrot just overheard a conversation from his neighbors or probably left the TV open and that's where Perky got it. No biggie.
But the days follow, and Perky kept on repeating the sentence. Dexter was more annoyed than creeped out, but he decided to ignore it.
Months went on, Dexter had a girlfriend named Alyssa. She's not aware of anything from Dexter's past, because he's feeding her lies and more lies. The parrot still refused to say anything other than 'I saw what you did.' It's getting kind of disturbing for him, but he decided to shrug it off.
That afternoon, he was on the office and Alyssa was left alone in his apartment. She comes over sometimes and Dexter trust her enough to leave her alone there and go to work. In the middle of his work, Dexter got a text from her. He told himself to finish the paper works because he thought the message is something stupid and not really important. Minutes later, he received another, but again, he ignored the phone and get on with his stressful job.
He received at least five more messages before she stopped, much to his relief.
After he finished his work, he immediately checked his phone to see the texts Alyssa sent him.
3:20 pm
'Hey your parrot is saying something. I think it's hungry or wtevr where's his food?'
3:45 pm
'He said 'justice'. What's up with him'
4:30 pm
'Perky kept on saying that you murdered your ex. What is this??'
4:43 pm
'Babe!'
5:26 pm
'I think there's someone who broke in. I'm in the bathroom and I heard noises outside. Come home'
5:54 pm
'I called 911 but they're still not here. I saw a girl through the keyholerturgl'
Dexter was speeding the car, he have a bad feeling about the parrot and the texts he received.
And boy, his feeling did not disappoint him.
The apartment was trashed. He didn't mind it. But he do mind the trail of blood, as if someone was dragged across the floor from the bathroom to his bedroom. Perky was also gone, but he couldn't care less about the stupid parrot.
Trembling in fear, he opened the door to his room and almost threw up at the sight.
Alyssa, his ex girlfriend, and the little girl's corpses are huddled in the corner of his room. The stench was unbearable, he felt his bile rise up to his throat. There is something written in the walls... with blood... of Alyssa.
I saw what you did. Justice will be served no matter what it takes.
Just as he finished reading the sentence, the police burst into his room, shoving his face down the floor and cuffed his hands.
"Dexter Ralphson, you are arrested for murder."
He couldn't move. His body was frozen in shock. All he could do is stare, stare at the little girl with Perky on her shoulders outside the window, laughing and waving at him.
