I quietly sneak around my house, as quiet as a mouse, I'm tip toeing bare foot on the cold tiles trying not to wake anyone up as I get ready to leave.
It's 6 am and I haven't slept at all, I'm too excited to go on this trip with my 3 best friends.... no parents... just us 4... camping out in the wilderness near a river where we can relax, laugh and just have an amazing time with each other.
This will be my first time away from home without any adults for a whole week!!
I'm a little bit nervous if I'm being honest, small drops of sweat form on the palms of my hands... I try to convince myself I'm more excited than nervous as I wipe my damp hands on my pants.
I slowly gather everything I can find that I am in charge of bringing and check it off my small list I created to make sure I don't forget anything important...
It wouldn't be too good if I had forgotten to bring something important.
I read over my list very carefully just to double check I have everything I need:

Lily's camping list:
Pillow, check.
Blankets and sleeping bag, check.
Cooler, check.
Camping table, check.
Camping chair, check.
Suitcase packed, check.
Torch, check.
Portable charger, check.
Snacks, check.
Drinks, check.
Tent, check.

"I think that's everything..." I quietly mumble to myself.
"OH WAIT, I almost forgot the tent pegs and rope", We kind of need those for the tent to be able to hold up I thought, mentally calling myself an idiot.
I very quietly run off down the hallway and get some tents pegs and rope from the garage.
"6:40am" I say as I look up at the clock hanging on the cream coloured wall back inside the house, I had to leave in 20 minutes.
I walk over to the kitchen, over to the pantry, reach up to the top shelf, standing on my tip toes and struggle to grab the cereal box.
I place the cereal box on the kitchen counter and get some low fat milk from the fridge and make myself a bowl of cereal for breakfast.
As I eat I text my friends in our group chat:

(Kai):
*Jade? Lily?? tell me when you are leaving so we can arrive at Brooke's at the same time*
(Jade):
*Okay okay okay, you big baby, I'm leaving once Lily picks me up which should be in about 15 ish minutes*
(Kai):
*Hey! I am not a baby!!*
(Brooke):
*Ppffftt okay sure Kai, sure*
(Kai):
*I just want us all to arrive at the same time so we can all pack the car together*
(Brooke):
*No you just don't want to be the first one here and feel awkward, plus we need to wait for Lily to arrive so we can half all of our stuff into her car and my car*
(Kai):
*Wow... don't out me like that*
*i won't come on the trip*
(Brooke):
*Too bad, we've already planned this trip, so you're coming no matter what*
*plus you're the one who was the most excited about this trip*
(Lily):
*Jade I'm leaving in 10 minutes*
*make sure to be ready*
(Kai):
*I'm just excited to spend a whole week away with you 3*
*Lily?!?!? Not even going to help me out here?*
*I see how it is*
(Lily):
*haha nope*
*love you xx*

With the sound of a click from my phones on and off button I turn off my phone and place it screen down on the kitchen table and quickly finish my breakfast, I put my dirty bowl in the dishwasher then walk to my room to get dressed.
I put on my favourite washed out black jeans, a plain light grey shirt, a black hoodie and my brown timberlands.
I walk to the bathroom, turn on some music, do my hair and brush my teeth.
I smile to myself in the mirror once I'm finished, I walk back to the kitchen table, pick up my phone and text Jade in the group chat.

(Lily):
*Jade I'm leaving in 20, just need to put everything in the car then I'll be on my way, I'll see you soon*

I put my phone in my jeans small back pocket and grab my keys, unlock the front door and walk out, I start packing everything into the backseat of my car leaving room in the boot for Jade's things, making sure to look at the list again so I don't leave anything in the house.
I take a deep breath before heading over to my car for the final time to put in my suite case, I collect my thoughts and try to calm the feeling of butterflies in my stomach.
I hop into my car and drive to Jade's, once I arrive at Jade's, Jade and I start packing everything into the car.
"BE SAFE" I hear Jade's mother yell to us with a slight tremble to her tone of voice as she quickly made her way to the front door and towards my car.
"Don't worry Mum we'll be fine, I promise" Jade says as she goes and hugs her mother goodbye before walking over to the car and getting in.
"You stay safe as well okay?" Jade's mum directed this statement to me. She looked like she was about to burst into tears, her eyes starting to water.
"I will, I promise, and I promise to take care of Jade" I give her a small smile and give her a quick tight hug before making my own way to the car.
Jade sighs deeply as I start the cars engine.
"Hey it'll be okay", I lock eyes with her and show her a simple little smile.
"Yeah I know" she smiles sadly back. I can tell she's nervous.
I lean over to her and give her a hug before I release the handbrake and put the car into drive.
We wave to Jade's mother and say our goodbyes, we make our way to Brooke's house.
When we arrive at Brooke's, Kai is also just arriving.
"Great timing" I say to Jade.
The 4 of us unpack my car and equally distribute everything we need to take so there is equal weight in both mine and Brooke's car.
"Alright I think that's everything" Kai says as he makes his way to my car.
"Who is going with wh-" I stop mid sentence as Kai gets into my car.
"Never mind" I giggle slightly.
"See you there then, haha" Brooke says while faintly laughing while looking over to my car.
"Okay, I'll follow you" I say back while grinning as I walk up and stand next to her.
We share a small glance before Brooke heads over and starts her car.
I look at Kai in the passenger seat putting his seatbelt on and he looks like an excited child on Christmas morning waiting to open his presents.
I let out a happy sigh.
"Let's have the most memorable week of our lives" I say to myself quietly as I get into my car and start driving to our destination.
