We continued listening in terror not sure of what was happening over there.

"Wha-what's happening" Brooke poked her head out and over my shoulder looking at Kai who was still looking out the window, she was on the verge of tears... she was petrified.

Kai didn't say anything, he just blankly stared at Brooke then turned his head away and continued looking back out the window...

"Kai?" I called to him but he ignored me.

I hugged Brooke even tighter , she started crying in my arms, we were swaying slightly while we were hugging, I rested my chin on top of her head and tried to calm her down.

We could hear about 5 people yelling and screaming.

"JAMES!! JAMES!! Answer us"

They were screaming, calling and searching for this guy for 10 straight minutes... yet it felt like an hour...

"H-H-HE-HELP"

"OH MY GOD HE'S IN THE RIVER"

"HOLD ON TO SOMETHING"

"GRAB THAT"

"HOLD ON, DO NOT LET GO"

We could see multiple torches being flashed around up and down the river bank, at our campsite and into the river water trying to find him... we could see the lights through our tent walls.

"WHERE IS HE!!"

"I CANT SEE HIM"

"I CANT KEEP HOLDING ON"

"DO NOT LET GO"

James seemed to be growing weaker and weaker by the minute as they called for him.. they were getting more and more desperate.

At this point Brooke as well as Jade were in tears. I held out one of my arms for Jade but she ignored my gesture.

Jade scrambled around the tent desperately trying to find her phone and some headphones so she could listen to some music to drown out the other camps screams.

Jade suggested Brooke to do the same so Kai crawled around the tent looking for spare headphones and Brooke's phone so she could also try and drown out the other camp, the yelling and all the panic was too much for Jade and Brooke to handle.

Jade had sat next to Brooke and handed some pair of headphones to her, Brooke let go of me and rushed to find her phone.

They both put music on to drown out the commotion.

"JAMES PLEASE"

"PLEASE HOLD ON"

"PLEASE DONT LET GO"

"WE WILL GET TO YOU"

Kai and I didn't know whether we should get out of the tent or not, they didn't have an eye on this guy and he was extremely drunk and he sounded like he was severely hurt.

He must have fallen off the edge of the river bank or... he was pushed. Of course our minds naturally thought the worst that someone had pushed him off the edge.

They continued to struggle in finding him, they could hear him but not see him anymore.

"WE CANT SEE YOU"

"KEEP TALKING TO UP"

"TALK JAMES TALK"

"JAMES!!?!?"

Suddenly all the torches were turned off and all the screaming stopped it was pitch black.

There was pure silence... no sounds that reassured us that the guy was okay... nothing.

Kai and I were confused... did they find him?? Did he let go?? What's happened??

"Kai you stay here, I'm going to go and see if I can see anything from their camp" I slowly stand up, my muscles feeling tight from sitting in the same position for so long.

"Are you sure that's a good idea? Shouldn't I come with you?" He asked me with concerned eyes.

"I don't think those two should be left alone, look how freaked out they are" I point to the two girls.

I turn to walk to the tent door, I gulp feeling a very heavy uneasiness in my stomach. Before I open the tent door Kai comes up behind me.

"Jeez!! Don't do that!! You scared me" I hit him lightly on the arm.

"Here let me check it out, you stay here". He shows me a gentle smile, opens the tent and looks outside.

I walk back over to the girls and sit down in between them giving them both a warm hug.

Kai pops his head back inside "I couldn't see anything, their camp seems fine, I'm assuming they found him and helped him up or else they would still be looking for him" he sits down on his sleeping bag.

I tap the girls on their shoulders to take the headphones out "It's okay, they found him" they let out a sigh of relief.

Kai and I tried to diffuse some of the tension by starting small talk with them to try and take their minds off of what had just occurred.

"How about tomorrow we drive to that big lake that's near here? I heard it's a very relaxing place plus it's pretty so Kai can take some landscape pictures" I suggested to the group to try calm everyone down

"Ye-yeah ok-okay" Brooke said as she slowly started to get back into a sleeping position.

"Alright it's settled then" I softly smile to Brooke.

"We need to get some sleep then if we are going to the lake"

It took Jade and Brooke awhile to fully calm down and feel safe again until before they fell back asleep.

Kai and I decided to stay up for a little longer to make sure they were 100% okay.

Once they were in a deep sleep Kai and I laid back down in our sleeping bags on our side of the tent.

"Well that was eventful..." I rolled over onto my stomach and put my arm under my pillow.

"Very" Kai closed his eyes.

"Let's not bring this up tomorrow.." I said to him as I stared at the wall of the tent.

"Good idea..." He whispered back.
