Chapter 17

Lyle's POV

"AAAGGGHHHHHHH!!!" I screamed my lungs out as the bones in my leg shifted into an impossible angle.

"IT HURTS!!" I cried as the other bones in my body soon followed. I looked over to my family and saw everyone staring at me with concern.

"MAKE IT-AAGGHHH!!"

"MAKE IT STOP!!" I begged for help but none of them moved to help me.

"MOM I CAN'T-AAGGHH!!" I screamed as I felt my spinal cord break and shift inside.

"Why is he in so much pain?" I heard Mom in a mile away, asking Dad about what's happening.

"I don't know, we've never had this problem with the others before." Dad answered with concern and looked at me.

"I think he can already hear us." He observed and the others turned their heads towards me.

"You can do it lil' bro." Dustin cheered me on.

"We'll give you a massage later ok?" Jake offered and so did Xavier.

"It's going to be over soon Honey, just hold on a bit longer." Mom cooed at me and forced a smile on her face.

"MOM IT'S KILLING ME!" I couldn't stop the growl that escaped my throat, and I myself was shocked.

"We need to help him. It's been going on for long now." I heard Chelsea said and was about to walk towards me when Malcolm stopped her.

"It's only going to provoke and agitate his wolf if we go to him now." He pointed out and Chelsea sighed in defeat.

"Is he going to be ok?" Luna Rose asked Alpha Blake and he nodded his head confidently.

"It just means that his wolf is very powerful." He declared and smiled at me supportively before he spoke.

"Shift." And with that, the pain in my body increased tenfold and the bones in my body snapped altogether. The screams that escaped my mouth were so spine-chilling that some of them couldn't bare to watch any longer.

The air wrapped around me as it thickened. The leaves got caught up by the intense wind and swirled around. Some of the pack members stepped back, and covered their eyes with their arms.

What's happening?

My question was soon answered when I felt another existence within me. It made me feel powerful and strong. It was my wolf.

When I opened my eyes, I suddenly grew taller and my senses were all heightened. I noticed that I was on all fours and I had paws. Fucking paws.

Gasps of awe and shock circled the pack and my family. I turned towards them and all of their eyes were wide open.

"Fuck!" I heard someone from the crowd say, and it sent vibrations throughout my body. It was so familiar but I couldn't point out who.

"Holy shit." Malcolm breathed out as he stared at me. What is the- oh shit.

I zoomed at the window that showed my reflection and I was shocked. I was a white ball of fur. A snow white wolf.

My fur was so smooth and light, that it danced with the wind. Some of it had luminescent purple streaks that shone in the moonlight, giving it an ethereal glow. My eyes were light purple mixed with icy blue, making it look like an amethyst. What in the world-

My paws suddenly carried me to the forest and I was amazed at how fast everything passed by me. The trees, the small animals, the insects, and the plants, I could see all of them in a clearer view as I was running.

I was breathing heavily and my snout was hanging open for air. I saw a pond nearby and as I stepped into the moonlight, both the water and the purple streaks in my fur illuminated.

I drank the water and stared at my reflection. My wolf was so magical that I didn't even have words. I've never seen a white wolf before, and now I am one.

The wind blew at my face and I got a whiff of the same scent I smelled a while ago. The smell of the woods, musk, lavender and a strong masculine scent.

It was faint but it was there. My wolf howled in happiness and I couldn't understand why. He ran faster happily towards the scent like a lovesick puppy. I let him take control, giving him the chance to explore and enjoy since it's his first time.

And I quickly regretted it as the smell became stronger and a big black wolf appeared out of the shadows in the clearing.

"Mate!" My wolf said and my eyes widened at what he said. That fast? The black wolf slowly made his way towards us and I could see that his human was having trouble fighting his wolf off.

I took control of my body and placed my wolf in the back of my mind. I stepped backwards everytime he took a step forward.

"Who are you?" I asked him telepathically, knowing that it's the way of communicating between mate wolves when they're in wolf form.

He didn't answer me and stopped in his tracks to admire the sight in front of him. He lowered his head, a sign that he poses no danger or I'll intent and continued walking towards me

"I asked who you are." I emphasized every word but he didn't answer. Was my mate mute? A lot of questions popped up in my head but all of it didn't ready me for what was coming.

"Lyle." That familiar voice called out to me and everything my mom said about your mate loving you unconditionally shattered into pieces.

"No. It can't be. Please tell me it's not true." I pleaded and I saw a flicker of pain and anger in his eyes.

"Adrian please, tell me this is a joke! Please!" His wolf whimpered and I felt bad for him, because it was not his fault that his human was a spawn of Satan.

"I didn't mean for all of this to happen. Believe me." His deep voice echoed inside my mind and it sent tingles throughout every part of my body. I hated it.

"You didn't mean to make my life a living hell?! You didn't mean to bully me?! And you didn't mean what you did to me when I was drunk?!" I growled and he stopped in his tracks as he looked at me warily.

"Can't you just listen to what I'm about to say?!" He snapped back irritatedly and my wolf didn't like that. I guess he knew where I was coming from.

"I won't listen to a fucking word that comes out of your mouth!" I snapped my teeth at him and he growled.

"Mom said your mates are supposed to love you. But you did the complete opposite. Did you know this whole time?" I whimpered and guilt flashed through his eyes.

"You hurt me, in a lot of ways. You never even bothered to apologize. You never felt any remorse Adrian. How can I learn to accept you, when you never accepted me?!" I howled in pain and the trees felt my sorrow as they swayed with the winds.

"I will never accept you." I told him as I stared deeply into his yellow eyes.

"Goddamnit! Will you just listen?!" He shouted in frustration as he walked closer.

"Leave me alone!" I exploded and he was sent flying back and collided with the tree. He huffed in pain but quickly stood up and with a shocked expression.

I don't know what happened because my mind was focused on him. On my....mate.

"Thank you for the birthday gift." I turned my back on him and ran back to the house.

The cold wind calmed me, but it didn't stop the wetness that pooled in my eyes.
