Carter's POV

"Ms. Shaw please gather all your history research paper. The rest of you, please focus on what's written on the board and stop lolly-gagging"

Geez. Mr. Ross dosen't know any jackshit on how most teenagers react on that research. It's the same thing that they make us do every year. And we think it's stupid and bullshit because we don't wanna see those textbooks and pencils on our desks when we go home, most of us would hang out and have fun. He thinks that we're all historionic (not even a word) I'm certain that no one did their homework for sure.

Wait, I looked around to see if anyone's passing their homeworks and they are!

Shite.

I forgot about history! I lose my focus when this Skyler-Finn-thingy came up and I lost focus on school things.

Kayla went over me to gather my paper. Unfortunately, I've got nothing to pass.

"Hey, c'mon pass your homework. I haven't got all day and I don't get paid for wearing six-inch high heels just to gather some stupid homework."

I rolled my eyes at her.

"Uh. Kayla? I don't have homework." I uttered.

"What? But Mr. Ross will send you off to--

"Seems that you have a problem back there, Ms. Richards."

I gulped.

"She has no homework sir because she was too busy stalking me around." The effin' devil said.

Such a freak!

"Shut up, you fuckin--

"Richards, Language please! Detention now!" Mr. Ross said.

Just great another date with detention. I made my way out the room but there's no way I'm going back to that dingy room with all the freaks. So I decided to go to the library instead.

****

The library is only place here in school that I can stay quiet and away from all the problems of this cruel world.

I went to the rack of bookshelves. Running my fingers over the books looking for something good to read and I saw some of the Hardy Boys mystery novels.

So I when I was pulling it out, something is trying to hold it back on the other side of the shelf. I glanced over it and saw no other than the devil's face.

"Oh you want that one?" He asked.

"Yeah so I could throw in your face."

"Okay. You can take it." He said handing over the book.

I walked straight passed at him and took a sit.

"Why are you here?" He asked.

"Why are you here?"

"I got bored and went out of class and I passed by the library and saw you here. You?" He shrugged his shoulders reluctantly and took a seat on the vacant spot infront of me.

"Detention. Thanks but no thanks to you." I faked a sweet smile.

"Oops. Sorry."

"Now you tell me." I turned my face on the book and started to read.

Few moments passed and no one dared to talk which made our atmosphere a little bit awkward I glanced at him and he's flickering his phone.

"Hey." Finally he spoke.

"What?" I replied still keeping my attention to the book.

"I thought detention in Mrs. Headley's room. Why are you in the library?"

"Obviously, the library is a quiet, peaceful and a problem-free place. I'm just here to make silly noises and to goof around all day until the librarian kiss my ass out of here." I rolled my eyes at him.

"Why do dorks have to be so shallow and stupid?" he said sarcastically.

"I'm here because I don't want to go back to that hell hole."

"That explains why."

"Tell me about it."

We were quiet for a second.

"Hey, you like soulful and awful places don't you?"

"I prefer the term peaceful. Why?"

He stood up. His hands on his pockets. Geez. Why do jerks always have to look so good?

"C'mon. I know a place."

I shut the book and turned my direction to his. "What? you mean, ditch school?"

"Why? Is it your first time?"  he asked.

"Y-yeah. Tempting but, I don't have plans on failing my grades just for some douche."

He chuckled. "Don't worry about it. I told you, my dad just bought this school and we've got everything under control. So, are you coming or what?"

Maybe I could trust this devil just this once.

I smiled and grabed his hand. Running our way out.

"That's the spirit!" He said.
