"ABBY I WILL MURDER YOU." I screamed.
My hair. Was. Green.
Green!
Abby looked conflicted like she didn't know whether she should fall to the ground laughing or run away.
"I will give you," I growled. "Three seconds to run."
"Oops." Abby gulped.
Deja vu, anyone?
"Three, two, one!" I shrieked and pounced.
You must be confused.
It had been well over six months since our stay at Sundown Beach and we were now preparing for our first mission in one heck of a long time. We were supposed to go undercover as some quirky, not very ordinary kids and therefore had been given the okay to choose our own disguises.
Abby and I had decided to trust each other to choose each other's hair color. I had chosen to keep her hair completely natural, but told her she should have really light blue contacts and get a few piercings.
I, on the other hand, had my hair turned green.
"Woah, woah, woah." Max grabbed me by my waist just as I was about to jump on her. "What's going on?"
"My hair." I gestured to it angrily. "Is green!"
Max took a proper look at my hair and did a double take. I could see multiple expressions crossing his face and he eventually had to press his lips together to prevent him from laughing.
"See? Even my boyfriend is laughing!" I protested, crossing my arms across my chest.
Yeah, you heard that right.
Boyfriend.
I know we made the whole healing speech like we were these mature grown ups but let's be real we started going out like two weeks after we got back home.
It was amazing to finally go on an actual date, and after one visit to the planetarium I fell in love with it, with space and stars and moons and everything, meaning it was now our go to place to go on dates.
On the day he asked me out he said, and I quote, "Will you be the sun to my earth?"
I honestly had to try not to laugh but he blushed so adorably that I couldn't help it. Of course I accepted, and we shared our first kiss under the stars of the planetarium because it was raining outside due to Max's nervousness.
So romantic.
"I'm not laughing." Max replied.
"Yes you are." I scowled, crossing my arms.
"Okay yeah, I am, but not because of the hair, the hair looks great. You're just adorable when you're mad."
"Shut up," I mumbled but didn't pull away when he leaned down to drop a short kiss on my forehead.
"Ew, take it outside." Abby groaned.
"You're gonna have to get used to this." I grinned. "We're stuck together for the next couple of months."
"You guys aren't supposed to be a couple during the mission!" Abby protested.
Yup, that's right, Max, Abby, and I were now all three partners in crime and we were all pumped for our first mission of the year.
"Which is why I'm not calling her Princess anymore. From now on your nickname is Hulk."
"I thought we had this conversation!" I slapped his arm.
"Princess, your hair's green, you've got to let me have this!" He begged, half joking, half serious. I ignored Abby busting a lung laughing behind us.
"If you're going to call her Hulk then I have no problem with it." Abby laughed.
"Looks like we're having a good time." Boss walked into the room, a folder in her hands and her heels clicking sharply on the floor. We all sobered up, scrambling to take our seats for the briefing.
Boss sat down and began leafing through papers, sorting them through before setting them down and glancing up at us.
"Nice hair, Miller." Boss smirked, her eyes flickering to my very green hair.
"Not you too." I muttered, glaring at Abby who shot me a smug grin.
"It's nice to see you all back, Agent Miller, Cole, and Trelle."
"Pleasure to be here." Max answered immediately.
Abby and I leaned forward excitedly.
"So, you ready for your new mission?" Boss raised an eyebrow.
Abby, Max, and I all exchanged a glance, matching smiles on our faces.
The past few months we'd spent training our asses off, hanging out together, and just healing after everything we'd gone through had made us all the more excited to finally be back out on the field again.
We knew we were ready. Not just for this mission, but for everything we had coming for us in the future. We would tackle it together, as a team.
"Bring it on."
