"But- you-"

You marched over, grabbing his tie and pulling him into the room, slamming the door behind him and locking it.

"Shhhh- let me explain" you said.

Matsuda just nodded, speechless.

"Kira is using the powers of a Shinigami. I'm a mild love goddess from a place called the aether, when I saw L's life was in danger because it of Kira and this Shinigami I came down to protect him. The Kira case has angered all seven realms... well, I don't know about the Shinigami realm they seem to be amused by it..." you said.

"There's... 7? What?" He stammered.

"Listen. Remember when you said you thought you saw a Shinigami?"

He nodded, now paying closer attention.

"That wasn't a Shinigami, that was a death messenger who probably had a weak glamour spell. They take the souls of dead humans to be reincarnated, punished or immortalised depending on what their human life was like. You've had many many past lives before, and the fact you're a human means you haven't had any high profile deaths or committed any crimes. Kira is using the notebook of a Shinigami. If you write someone's name in it, they'll die. That's how he kills without being on the scene. I'm a love goddess who was immortalised thousands of years ago and it's my job to try and defuse this so no inter-realm wars start" you explained.

"Does... L know...?" He asked.

"Yes. I came to him in this form, he'd known from the beginning... actually... he's my soulmate"

"Soulmate? They exist?"

He lit up at the thought of a soulmate, probably wanting one for himself.

"Yes. Thousands of years ago, in my final human life I was stabbed to death by my sister at the times husband during fight they had I tried to break up. L whom I was going to marry was the one who held my body as I died, he doesn't remember it since it was thousands of years ago and he'd since had many lives. And I think it's best we don't tell him that detail, he'd been though enough in this life. But... because I died tragically, I was immortalised into a goddess of love under the watch of Aphrodite herself. L's soul kept on living many human lives and because I wasn't human anymore he didn't have a soul to drift to. He's spent many lives alone and unloved because I wasn't there as a human. We lost each other for a while, but I'm here now, and I have to protect him no matter what the cost is"

Matsuda was silent for a moment, taking all this in. He was all ways open to the existence of deities and supernatural beings, but he never expected to actually see one in the flesh. Let alone on a case already wild as anything. The fact you were explaining everything to him told him that there was no way you could just make him forget with magic or something, and that this was serious business.

"I'm sure you already figured out that no one can know this?" You said.

"Yeah... that's bad news if anyone finds out and it gets back to kira somehow. Or if the public find out, you'll be hunted down" he replied.

"Exactly. You can't tell anyone under any circumstances, got that?"

His eyes went back to your wings, watching them gently sway as you stood there. They were massive, taller than you, and it was easy to tell that if they were to be spread out they'd take up a considerable amount of space. He absent mindedly reaches out to touch them.

"Just keep your hands toward the tips. Wings are sensitive, but there's less flesh and nerves toward the bottom" you said.
