Chapter 71 | a little talk

"I'm home! Mum guess what I got a 85% on my science exa-"

Sayu stopped in her tracks when she turned into the living room, brain lagging to process what she was looking at.

Her father was back, sitting with her mother. Misa sat with a baby in her arms opposite them. And to her utter shock three winged people stood beside the sofas.

"What's going on? Am I hallucinating?" She said.

"Sit down Sayu" mr Yagami said.

She slowly approached, pulling up a chair and sitting with the group. Confused, not sure if she was dreaming or not.

"I'm not dying am I? Why am I seeing angels" she awkwardly laughed, scanning the three deities in the room.

"They're deities actually. This is (y/n), this is zephyr and... this is L"

Mr Yagami gestured at the three of you, full deity robes, wings, weapons, the works.

"L the detective? Wait is this about kira? Hang on where's Light-"

"Sayu, let me explain. I've already explained the basics to your mother. This isn't going to be easy but yes this is about kira"

Sayu was getting nervous. She knew kira had some kind of magic power, everyone did. Even the skeptics were able to admit that his killing method was suspicious.

"I'll start from the beginning. As you know I was out in charge of the Kira taskforce working under L, hence why I've been away so long. And after almost a year of investigation and some long hard emotional days... we've come to the conclusion that Light... is kira"

It was silent, Sayu absolutely speechless. Show couldn't imagine her brother as a killer, sure he was kind of cold sometimes but a killer? He couldn't be.

"W-what..."

"L can explain the whole situation since he was the one that directed it" Mr Yagami said.

L sighed, knowing this explanation would take a long time. He like everyone else involved was tired of this case.

"The initial Lind L Tailor broadcast narrowed down the suspects to this area is Japan. And the pattern of killings matched up to student timetables. So we knew early on kira was a student in the kanto region of Japan. But... to my absolute bewilderment, (y/n) showed up in my hotel room out of nowhere warming me I'd die if divine intervention didn't happen. So she stayed, joined the taskforce and told me what weapon kira had. A death note is a book dropped by a Shinigami and if you write a persons name in it they'll die. That book was dropped in lights high school and he picked up up.

From there it was a fast but well hidden spiral into a god complex. He started killing, out of boredom and a desire to 'clean up' the world and become a god. We found out he had access to police records, which meant Kira was someone in connection to the police. Everyone was investigated and Light was the most suspect one. Turns out we were right and after confronting him in person, we put him into confinement. There, he lost is memories of the book and his crimes because he hid the book in advance and told the Shinigami to pass on ownership.

For a while he had no idea he was kira, but when he arrested the person who had the book at that time he figured it all out and knocked both me and (y/n) out, stole the book back and ran off with Misa. But..." L explained, trailing off and looking over at Misa.

Misa sighed, gently rocking Naja in her arms.

"I had a notebook too... I got it by chance and when he found out he used me for the book and manipulated me into killing for him. I regret it, if I could take it all back I would. She got me pregnant, and when I told him he yelled at me and slapped me and told me that 'a baby will hinder my journey to godhood' so he locked me up with Zephyr who got held hostage in the crossfire. I was stuck in there for my whole pregnancy and I'm so lucky that L and (y/n) found us because they showed up right as I was giving birth. Light had run off into a different realm, hes trying to get to the highlands, where all the most powerful gods live. So... this is Naja, the baby light didn't want to raise with me. And zephyr... turns out she was my soulmate the whole time..." Misa added.
