Starring in the mirror, he tried so hard to remember the past year, but there were so many gaps in the memories it wasn't working.

"God DAMNIT-" Light exclaimed, punching the counter.

He was getting stupidly frustrated. According to the hints that Shinigami dropped, he had some connections to kira, but couldn't figure out what it was. He went over the whole taskforce, looking for any evidence that suggested they were Kira. But no one fit the profile. None of his high school or University friends either.

"Why can't I remember? If I could this could solve the damn case!"

He didn't want to alarm the taskforce by saying he just saw a Shinigami earlier that day. But he was thinking he may have to, if they remembered things he didn't, the puzzle could be pieced together. He was getting too frustrated, he just had to calm down and be rational.

"Just focus, calm down. Go make some tea or something..." he told himself.

Leaving his room and walking down the dark halls toward the kitchen, he considered detouring to Misa's room afterwards to ask her about any memories regarding Shinigami. As he approached the kitchen, he heard voices.

"If he makes the eye deal there's nothing we can do"

"Would he though? Half your life seems a bit extreme"

"Well if he thinks he's about to be exposed on live TV, he might think it's a last resort. If he does half his lifespan it just means we have to work quick on interrogation since he could die at any moment"

Light stopped outside the door, wondering what the hell you and L were saying.

"So here's the plan. When we corner him, I'll get out of the helicopter to grab the book, you stay inside and keep light from getting anywhere near it. If he touches that book we're royally fucked. You won't need to touch it since you have deity eyes now. But I'll pass it around the taskforce. Then I'll shove the book down my top so no one can try and touch it. Once we get back to taskforce we lock it in a safe only you know the combination too. After the trials, we hand it over to hades" You explained.

"That'll work, as long as the book is away from light, we'll be fine" L replied.

"Book?" Light mumbled to himself.

Hearing the sounds of glasses clinking and cutlery rattling, he figured you'd both made hot chocolates before bed or something while talking about the case.

"It's late we better get to bed" you said.

"God I can't wait to lie down, my back is killing me" L said.

"Just a few more weeks and it'll go away hun"

Light heard you approach the door, scrambling around the corner so you didn't know he was eavesdropping. He heard you open the door and head for the stairs as you talked about going to sleep. He perked around the corner, seeing you just as you disappeared upstairs.

He almost had a heart attack when he laid eyes on you, seeing two big white with a pink tinge wings on your back for a split second before you vanished from his view. L already ahead of you and out of his view.

Suddenly it all clicked. The conversation he barely remembered about you and deities he had with Misa. Scampering up the other staircase, he rushed into Misa's room. Turning on the lights, he shook her awake.

"Misa! Misa!"

"Ugh- it's like 3am what to you want?" She groaned.

"Remember that conversation we had that involved (y/n) and deities that we don't remember much of? I just saw her walk out of the kitchen with WINGS- WINGS!" Light said.
