When Jack saw Anne-Marie coming towards him he bent down so that she could say something to him.
"Hey, big brother. That friend of yours thinks that I should be more polite." Anne-Marie whispered to him. Jack looked at Ray and smirked. Anne-Marie was probably being the most polite out of all of his siblings, because she always did this when she went out. But at home, she was the most violent, even more so than Tony, who liked to torture people for fun.
Then Jack walked over to Ray with Anne-Marie tailing behind him. "Sorry about my sister. She is normally more... energetic, so when something like this happens she lets her energy out in rude remarks." Jack smiled apologetically.
Ray smiled back, but his eyes looked concerned. Then Mark came over with a large smile. "Brother, is this your friend? Your other roommate kept asking me questions, so I haven't had a chance to meet anyone else." Jack tilted his head.
"Which other roommate?"
"Oh, you know, the one with the bright green hair, named Anthony." At this Jack's eyebrows shot up."Anthony... so that's what his name was. What questions did he ask you?" At this the smile on Mark's face disappeared.
"He asked me what I did for a living. Brother, if your friends figure out anything, you're the one who's going to have to clean up the mess." The last part was a whisper that Jack could barely hear. Then Mark left.
Ray, who saw the whole conversation, could only wonder what made Jack so stiff afterwards. Something about his brother's job? Could his brother be doing something illegal, or could Jack?
Just then, the old principal went onto the stage, "Hello, I hope you are all having a wonderful time. I just wanted to make a quick announcement. I hope everyone can give a quick round of applause to the family that has made the most donations towards our school's wellbeing. The Hopperton Family."
Ray looked towards Jack, only to realize he wasn't besides him anymore. Instead, he found him next to his mother with the rest of his family. Strangely, he seemed to fit in with his family, even though it looked like a bunch of misfits, together, they looked... well, the same somehow. After everyone had finished clapping Jack went over to Anthony and grabbed his shoulder making him jump up in surprise.
"Hey, Anthony. Mind if I talk to you outside in the hall. It will only take a bit." Jack forced a fake smile and cheerfully grinned at Anthony. Anthony froze in fear. Did Jack figure something out? Then, trying to make himself look less suspicious, Anthony put on a confused look and followed Jack outside.
As soon as they left the gym, Jack grabbed Anthony's hand and pulled him into the janitor's closet. Pinning Anthony up against the wall with one arm Jack smiled at him again. But this time the smile was cruel and menacing.
"So, Anthony. My brother told me you kept on inquiring about his job? Honestly, I don't know what you know, but don't think that I don't have ways to get rid of you. I don't want to kill you, but only because it will be quite the hassle if the school has to close down. So why don't you just tell me everything."
Anthony gulped. "Yeah, I'll tell you. Can you just let me down." Jack pulled his arm away, but then took out a knife that was hidden somewhere in his clothes. Anthony's eyes widened, he knew that Jack was hiding something, but what could be so important that he would harm, or possibly kill him for it?
"Um, well. Last night, I was awake when that person came into your room. I only heard the end of the conversation, but I thought that maybe you were involved in some sort of gang, and when I heard your brother's voice, I recognized it. So I thought I could help you by finding out information on your brother and, well, yeah."
Jack dropped his head in his hands mumbling, "How could I be so careless." Then Jack abruptly looked up towards Anthony. "So, you mean to say that you don't know anything other than that my brother is doing something suspicious and that I'm involved?" Anthony nodded silently.
"Ok, then as long as you don't pry into this too far and you don't tell a soul what you heard or saw, then, I might be able to let you go this one time. But if you do anything that could put me or my family in danger, I will personally take care of you." Jack warned Anthony with malice in his voice.
"Yes, I promise, I won't tell a soul." Anthony continued to nod his head vigorously. Jack tucked the knife back into his clothes and Anthony could hear the clinking of metal. Were there other knives in there? Or was it something else metallic.
Jack smiled with relief, he was glad he didn't have to clean up this mess anymore. Then he walked back into the gym, Anthony close behind him. Once Jack was around more people, Anthony could tell that he put on a fake relaxed manner. Jack walked over to Mark and whispered something, making Mark look towards Anthony grinning.
Anthony, who was surprised about nearly everything that happened today, just sighed and went back to his dorm room.
