Authenticity is defined as the quality of being authentic, and authentic can be defined as real, true, genuine, not false, not an imitation, not a copy.

Another definition of authentic—in terms of a person, or a person's behaviour, or personality—is representing one's true nature or beliefs; true to oneself or to the person identified.

As a philosophical concept, authenticity can be defined as the degree to which a person's actions are congruent with his or her beliefs and desires, despite external pressures to conformity.

While authenticity is a good quality to have, too much of anything—even a good thing—can be a bad thing.

In terms of authenticity—becoming too authentic can result in simply ruling out self-improvement.

Humankind and wizardkind alike are supposed to grow and improve over time, and ruling out self-improvement by being too authentic is counter-productive.

So, as Andromache Granger skates through the hallways of Hogwarts in her yellow-laced black roller-skates—that she got changed from blue by a Prefect using magic—people marvel at the peculiar behaviour exhibited by the girl wearing a yellow flower crown, that they can only assume is authenticity.

Hermione and Adelaide—having been introduced during breakfast and getting acquainted at Transfiguration—watch in amusement as the blonde skates around a corner and into view.

The dark and cold dungeon corridor seems lighter and warmer with Andromache manoeuvring through it.

"Sorry I took so long," the blonde apologises, having gone to fetch the Potions book she forgot in her dorm, "I got held up by Peeves, then bumped into one of our third-years while dodging Draco, and made his acquaintance after we finally stopped apologising to each other."

"His?" Hermione questions shrilly, while Adelaide wiggles her eyebrows and laughs.

Andromache chuckles at their reactions as they enter the cold, dark Potions classroom, "Goodness gracious—yes, his. And he's really just a kind boy I bumped into named Cedric."

"Cedric? Cedric Diggory?" Adelaide asks with wide eyes, "Our roommates were talking about him last night—they said he's quite the looker."

The three girls sit, Andromache between Adelaide and Hermione as the blonde rolls her eyes, "I suppose he's as much of a looker as a thirteen-fourteen year old boy can be. But he's got beautiful eyes."
