Her head was ready to burst open from the pressure rushing through it. Her eyes were glazed in a trance, unaware of her crimson red pupils. The sound of her ragged breaths were muffled by the ringing of her ears.

Empty. She felt so empty and incomplete. Something was missing.

What do I need to remember?

"Squeaky?" Renjun worriedly called, gently tapping her shoulder. The girl looked up, trying her best to focus her vision. "You don't look so good."

"Don't feel so good either." Sejeong groaned, sitting up from her makeshift bed. "I think I need some fresh air."

"What you need is a hospital." Renjun sassed, packing up her things for her. "You can at least go to the infirmary."

"Pass bitch, my mom would beat my ass the moment she finds out I need to go to the hospital." Sejeong chuckled, wincing when her a sharp pain shot through her head.

"What kind of household do you live in?" He shuddered at the thought. He helped her up from where she slept in the corner of the classroom and noticed someone in the hall.

"Felix is outside waiting for me." Sejeong mumbled, taking her bag from Renjun. She gave him a cheeky grin and ran out. "We don't have the same class next and I kinda want to escape the single life so, see you!"

"It's not just Felix who's there for you." He whispered, watching as his friend pitifully walked opposite of where Sejeong went.

"Sup Sprinkles! Did you miss me already?" Sejeong greeted, a strained smile on her face.

"I had time before my next class and wondered if I can spend it with you?" Felix smiled, extending a hand. She placed her hand in his and he excitedly pulled her along. "Your hand is pretty cold. You nervous?"

"Probably from sleeping right under the air-conditioning earlier. Reonjeon didn't want to lend me his hoodie since he was cold." Sejeong explained. "Not that I was cold. Even if it's hot I need something to make me feel protected."

"The only thing warm here is your ring. That's surprising." Felix pointed out. "Can I see the design? I think my sister would love something like this."

"No, I don't want to take it off." Sejeong refused. "I treasure this a lot and feel like I'll lose it if I take it off. It's bad enough I lost my favorite handkerchief. Someone really important gave it to me."

Her eyes widened slightly, wondering where the words came from.

Who gave it to me?

"Okay then, I understand. I feel the same way about my favorite accessories too." Felix assured. They walked around, taking the long way towards her next class. Sejeong barely spoke as she just half heartedly listened to Felix's words.

No matter how much she wracked and picked at her memories, his name and face were a blur. It was at the tip of her tongue yet she couldn't say it.

He took the ring from the box and placed it on her finger. "Merry Christmas, Darling."

Wasn't Chenle the only one she was with that day? Who was that?

"You good? You're sweating a bunch." Felix leaned close and put his free hand over her forehead. "You're a little warm."

"I get sick easily so I guess I caught a cold or something." Sejeong reassured, letting go of his hand and pushing the other away slightly. "It's nothing to worry about. I have medicine in my bag."

"If you say so, babe." Felix sighed, dropping the subject. He pushed his hands into the pocket of his jeans. "If you start feeling worse don't hesitate to call me or the others. I'll drop everything to help you."

"Of course." Sejeong sighed. She stopped in front of the door to a lecture hall. "This is my stop."

"Before you go, can I ask you something?"

"You just did." She teased. He rolled his eyes and she could only chuckle. "Ask away."

"Are you free this weekend? I'm going to practice baking something and I want to try it out with you." Felix shyly asked.

"I'll be glad to join you. Text me the details." She answered. She waved him goodbye before trudging into the lecture hall, the urge to just go home and fail growing within her.

🔮🔮🔮🔮🔮🔮🔮

Sejeong gripped her head as walked out to the rooftop. Her headaches have been getting worse as time progressed. Each day she felt emptier and emptier, yet she didn't know what could soothe her aching heart.

She was surprised to see someone sitting on the ledge, looking down at the view below. She approached him and quietly sat behind him.

"Is the view prettier there?" Sejeong asked as she pressed her ice cold drink against her temples. The person jerked in surprise as he looked behind him. She smiled and handed him some gum. "Hi."

"Hello." He greeted.

"Are you going to jump? You look troubled." She asked, leaning back onto the fence. The cool early spring breeze brushed through her hair and tickled her skin. She could feel her tension in her body come undone as she could finally relax.

"I'm waiting for someone to come back to me. It hasn't been long, but I miss her so much." He mumbled, putting his hood up. "It's too risky for me to be seen with her."

"Don't sweat it. If she's your soulmate then you have nothing to worry about. If she doesn't then you need to move on." She tried to comfort. "I believe that when souls bound by fate are forced apart-"

"-they'll always find a way back to where they belong."

"Yeah that's... exactly what I was going to say." She awkwardly nodded. "Have we met before? I've only told people I know this or is it just a coincidence?"

"We... haven't." He answered, pulling his hat down to cover his eyes more.

"I feel like we have. Like not to sound cheesy but I feel like I saw you in a dream." Sejeong shrugged. "What's your name?"

"You'll find out soon enough."

Her eyebrows furrowed as she got up to look at him. Instead of seeing his sweater clad torso, all she saw was an empty space. She rubbed her eyes and blinked a couple of times.

"Did I imagine it? Have I finally gone insane?"
