Chapter 9
A few months later, back in drama class, we were practicing a few parts that some of us weren’t completely happy with. My role was turning out great; it was helping me make a few friendly acquaintances with my colleagues and they were finding out that I wasn’t worried about all the stuff some humans were (such as getting bitten or hurt or hated). Baz was having some fun of his own being one of the bad guys in the play; he was able to use his size to the best advantage. As much as his role was meant to be evil, I found it funny when some of the lines he had to say were ridiculously hilarious.
‘You’re having too much fun,’ he teased; then turning to a wolf, crawled in between my legs and jolted his body so I fell over. Being amusing to everyone else in the room, but me, I gave him some evil looks and turned my back on him until he came whimpering to my side and licked my cheek until I hugged him.
‘Alright, you two. Stop playing around,’ spoke Cayleb. I looked over with wary eyes and Baz sniffed and trailed over to his seat. Standing up, and brushing the dust off my butt, I walked over and sat on his lap. Meanwhile Cayleb explained when we would possibly be performing our almost completed play, to which everyone became excited (even me, though I didn’t show it). I was too busy wondering about why Cayleb had once again made me stay behind, it was the other day.
Almost out the door, he had called me back into the room and had grabbed me like the first time and kissed my lips once more.
Only this time, it wasn’t as harsh but softer and slower; I hadn’t helped the situation by going limp in his arms and letting him do all that. I just closed my eyes and let a few tears fall down my cheeks. Pulling away, he saw them and his eyebrows furrowed, he put a confused look on his face; I wasn’t sure what to do.
‘Hey, hey. Why are crying?’ he asked, and released me.
Wiping my tears off, I felt anger and embarrassment. ‘Sorry? What’s wrong?’ I shouted back and pushed him though he didn’t move much. ‘This is all wrong. Just leave me alone. I mean, what is your problem? I have a boyfriend and I’m your student. This is disgusting!’ I shouted still, with fresh tears down my cheeks.
‘Oh, I see. So the fact that you still continue to stay behind when I ask, even when you know what’s gonna happen has no part in this? Hmm?’ he questioned alluringly, a dark smirk tainting his lips in the dimly lit room. Becoming nervous, I bit my lip and shuffled my body. ‘There, see. Just as I thought. Being human, and pretty much surrounded by werewolves who completely ignore you; you can’t resist the attention that you’re getting from me. On top of having a boyfriend, who is still practically a puppy compared to a matured adult like myself,’ he sneered as he circled me, which made me tense up and shiver. Staying silent, I felt myself falling more and more deeply into guilt and almost giving in to some of the truths in his words.
‘He isn’t a puppy though, not anymore,’ I tried defending Baz.
Cayleb snorted, and coughed sarcastically. ‘Really? When he prances about to show you off? Don’t you ever think he does that because of what he is, and he’s compelled to show that he is very much in control of your relationship together? That he doesn’t want his friends to think he’s a pushover when it comes to what you want?’ Still smirking, slightly showing his teeth, Cayleb stood firm in front of me with his arms crossed loosely across his chest.
