"Whoa easy Caroline," Markus said as I almost ran into him.

"Sorry I didn't mean to stumble," I said, " what are you doing out so late?"

"Looking for my brother Ryan. He's four and is constantly playing hide-and-seek. Also looking for Thomas of course. Poor baby." He genuinely said.

"Well how about I look for Ryan and you focus on Thomas," I said in a rush.

"Fine with me," he said then walked off. After I found Ryan and told him the time I needed to clear my head. So many things were happening it was too much to handle. I went down to the falls and watched the moonlight glistening waterfall. After about five minutes while I was walking back to my golden bedroom, I noticed Markus standing on the beach with a sinister smile growing on his face however fear grew in his eyes.

There was a green glow that started at the size of a pumpkin seed and grew to the size of Cinderella's carriage. As he neared the fluorescent green vortex I noticed his features slowly changing. His once midnight black hair now turned to a sandy blond, his body became buff. On his right arm I noticed a dark eye tattoo that stood out against his pale skin seemed to take in the moon's rays. His eyes turned from the beautiful blue to a deadly silver. The figure often would smack themselves, spit on their shoes, fighting among the current of the vortex. Eventually the figure in Markus' body looked around cautiously and when his eyes reached me I hid behind a bush. Observing from a few branches I saw him standing so close to the vortex of jade and orange that it seemed to have swallowed him. I decided to break the rules for the first time and go to the library.

I entered the musty room with books all lined up by years and in alphabetical order, cobwebs covering most desks and the stained glass windows, long dark purple velvet curtains laid down along the shelves. Four different sections were located throughout the library, history, spells, saints, and restriction; which has more sections within itself. I wanted to start with the 1930 war books to see if any unusual characteristics took place. However, I noticed in the restricted section, a book started to illuminate the same hue as the vortex. I began going towards it as if it was pulling me in. I went and grabbed the book and saw something interesting; the book was called "The Dark Powers of the Norse Gods" which consisted of a list of every Norse god possible and one struck me as odd and yet a possibility to Markus' madness.

The Norse god Loki, is known as a malicious trickster and can change his ability to change shape and sex. He would appear to be the enemy to the other gods and was a reason one of the gods called Balder. He is also considered the god of fire. I went through the entire library, searching for every book of Loki I could find. I concluded by the next morning, I would seek out the headmistress and question what I can from her aid.

Later in the morning I noticed Markus was back. He was swinging my sister around in his arms, her legs off the ground and her smile was like a thousand stars glistening in space between the planets.

"Did you find him yet?" I heard her ask out of breath from her laughter.

"Sadly no, but I'm still looking." he said. Almost disappointed that she asks this so often. I pulled Mary aside and noticed that she started to look upset.

"I don't trust him," I said my face grim.

"What do you mean," she said, her voice starting to get defensive.

"I don't think he's looking for Thomas," I said, blurting it out. I quickly covered my mouth and went out to give her a comforting hug. She pushed away.

"Hey what's going on u-," Markus never finished his question before we saw my sister run with tears dripping off her chin. I was so ashamed because I knew how much he meant to her. He was there for her when I wasn't. I felt a lone tear slide down my cheek and I fiercely wiped it away now is not the time to cry a river. "Well that was new. She never cries." Marcus said. I almost forgot he was there.

"Ummm yeah," I said afraid for her, "do you know where the headmistress is?"

"Her office like always," he said then walked off without a care in the world. I went to her office and saw her passed out on the floor, the carpet turning slightly red. I ran over to her and turned her over. Her injury looked worse than it really was. I tried to do some healing magic, my hands turning the color of sunlight and slowly, I saw the gap start to close and mend itself. After it was closed, I dragged her over to her canopy bed and pulled her silk blue covers over her.

I was about to leave the room until I noticed a soft green light and a shadow step through and suddenly it was gone. I laggard off to my room startled. When I opened the book, I learned about how Norse gods are dangerous and can become possessive. I went to show Mary although I noticed something odd; all children of Valentine were out. I noticed a whiff of chamomile, a sleeping herb, made into a gas. My thoughts automatically thought of Mary and ran to her room nonetheless the site that was patiently waiting for me was a terrible sight.
