Y/N POV
You stand with Chrollo at the edge of Meteor City, looking out at the vast wasteland in front of you, stretching as far as human eyes can see. Chrollo turns to you, seemingly intrigued by the light brown land that surrounds the city. "Do you ever wonder what else is out there?" he asks. "always" you reply, still staring out, your eyes traveling farther and farther. The landscape feels familiar to you, it's peacefulness consumes your eyes, you start walking out of the junkyard you love, pulled to the great unknown. Chrollo places a hand on your shoulder, stopping your unconscious journey outward. He pulls you backward towards town, your eyes still glued to the wasteland. You and Chrollo walk on top of the mountains of junk that's been tossed out over the years, looking for something for Chrollo to read. You can't seem to get your mind off of the world, even though you've seen it a million and one times. The wide open spaces that surround the rather cramped city have always been home to you, since as long as you can remember. You know your way around every nook and cranny of the junkyard, having spent hours looking for anything new or exciting. You keep walking forward, engrossed in memories that seem to have happened 100 years ago, but have only existed for 10. You remind yourself of the immortal words of your father on your 12th birthday "be careful when you're curious, it might seem straight-forward, but even simple things can have a large consequences when you look back on them." Your mind repeats the memory until you're standing at the base of something.
Chrollo's POV
I scan the piles carefully and quickly, looking for something, anything to cure this headache I can't get over. It's been about 4 hours since we left the city, 4 hours too long... I don't like being out of familiar places for too long, it drives me crazy. I wonder how people can leave their only home and move to somewhere completely new, an alien existence, in which you don't know where your home is, who you can trust, or who will take care of you. I'm lucky I can trust Y/N, she's always nice to me, and even though she'll never know this, i'm willing to stay by her side until death claims us both. I pause my scanning to land on a strange book, a white hand print on the red, dusty cover. It's in poor condition, but I pick it up. I flip through it, surprised to see blank pages. I keep flipping through the pages, each turn of the parchment grows my interest. I finish the pages, turning the cover over to read anything on the back. I keep the book close to me, it's like a lifeline to me, even though I have no idea why it's important. I slide the book under my arm and continue scanning the piles. "Chrollo! Over here!" I hear Y/N shout, she's several meters ahead, but I run over to her. "Look! a whole bookcase!" she points to a broken bookcase, the books are still intact, surprisingly. I pick a few up and skim the pages, sliding the ones I find interesting under my arm with the dusty red book. "What'd you find?" Y/N asks, pointing to the book under my arm. "I'm not sure, I looked through it, but there's nothing on the pages." I explain. "That's odd, I wonder why it's blank...Maybe someone started writing in it and they wrote it in invisible ink!" she suggests. "maybe, but how do we test that?" I think about what I could use to test her idea. "do you have an iron?" I ask her hopefully. "I think so" she ponders this for a moment before grabbing my wrist and dragging me back to her house. "dad, do we have an iron?" she yells as we enter the house. She drags me to the kitchen table and grabs a iron from the small bucket in the corner. "here, try putting lemon juice on it, then put the hot iron on top of it." Y/N directs my hand to hold the iron properly so I don't burn myself. I pour a little lemon juice on the first page of the book and run the hot iron over it. I set the iron on its side like Y/N taught me to and watched as the pages seemed to write themselves with long strings of text. I read the first page, which seemed to be a guide on how to use the book. "what does it mean by 'stealing Nen'?" I asked Y/N hoping she'd know the answer. She didn't, she just looked at me in confusion. I decided to keep the book, to do some research on "Nen". Y/N's father tells us to head to bed as the day comes to an end. My mind is rushing with so many questions, and I bet her's is too. Why did she save me? why did she care for me? I ponder these questions and their possible answers so long I didn't even notice the night pass. I sit straight up on the tattered cushions, careful not to wake Y/N who fell asleep next to me. I stare at the morning sun out the broken glass window and wonder why I'm here, in Meteor City, with so many questions...
Helloo! it's me, Carson! I hope the story is going well, I try to preview this while I'm reading to make sure the chapters aren't too long or too short. I like this length for the chapters, but things might change as I develop the story. If an existing chapter gets updated, I either added a note to the bottom or came up with a way to improve that chapter. Let me know if you like the story, if you have any other ideas, comment them! I check every comment! until next time, I'm Carson, and i'll see you all later! (1008 words for anyone who keeps track)
