(Authors note: hey, I know that this isn't really cannon stuff, but I've based everything off of things I've gathered from the Hunter x Hunter wiki, as well as my own understanding of the 2011 Anime. And yes, I know that the manga has differences to the anime, but I'm doing my best to write stuff without getting too into the nitty gritty. If I messed up some of the lore, by all means, enlighten me, but that doesn't mean I'll take it to heart. Anyway, this wasn't supposed to be this long. I'm also going to try putting a C in front of Chrollo's dialogue and see if it's easier to read. So enjoy Chapter 3! >Carson)

No POV

By this time, you have known Chrollo for 4 years. You've never seen him happier today, his official 18th birthday. You find it interesting, how you found this battered, beaten boy lying on top of a pile of junk, and now you're holding his hand as you walk through the endless maze of the junkyard. As you both grew you noticed Chrollo was always one step ahead of you. He grew taller than you, definitely had more brains than brawn when compared to each other, and he always teased you for it. This irritated you, but it was nice when you both fell asleep in each other's arms on the tattered couch in your house. On your 16th birthday, your father died. You came home to Chrollo, telling you to follow him, a blank expression and worry in his eyes. He lead you to an alley, you saw your father, wounds and gashes dug and slashed into his once strong, now lifeless chest. You hated remembering this now, how you were standing there speechless, while the rest of his blood pooled on the ground. You had gradually grown away from your father, but now you wish you hadn't. You didn't sleep that night nor did you dare to eat. You sat in your room looking out the window, silent tears and stifled crying stressing your voice and eyes. You realized how much you depended on Chrollo, he never failed to give you a proper home, even if he wasn't there. He's the only person you can trust now, your father is gone, he's the only one you have now, and he's all you will have forever. As you wander the junkyard, holding the hand of your only companion, you start to ask yourself what it means to be "loved".

Is it normal for friends to love each other?

You come up with endless questions, all of which have the same answer; yes. Chrollo stops your mind from wandering by placing a soft kiss on your naturally rosy cheek.

Chrollo's POV

I noticed that Y/N hasn't been talking much these past few days, which is why I thought I'd bring her out here before I break the news to her. I'm not sure how she'll respond, but I want her to know, because I might not ever see her again. It's not my favorite thing, to have to tell people that I'll be gone and might not return. It brings a few tears to my eyes. Knowing I'll lose everything if I lose her, I really ponder whether this is truly a good idea. With my head rushing between options, I start to speak.

C: "Y/N..." I pause, still weighing my options. "I've decided to leave Meteor City" I say softly, fearing a bad reaction.

"What do you mean, 'leaving'?" she responds, clearly confused.

C: "I mean I'm going to leave Meteor City, there's no reason to stay here, in this broken society...A-And I want you to come with me...Please.."

I feel her grip on my hand tighten, her face is expressionless, but her eyes show clear feelings of betrayal. I search for words, something, anything to get her to go with me, but all I end up doing is making her more and more mad at me. She starts to tell me how much she needs me, how she doesn't even know how to live outside of Meteor City, and how she wants to, but can't. Hearing this only makes me feel worse.

Is this heartbreak? It feels like my flesh is burning away, leaving only my damaged heart.

I sit down on a pile of junk and place my head in my hands. I hear Y/N's footsteps walk away, maybe for the last time. For the next morning, I'm walking through the barren land with a few of my friends, to start our new line of thieves, "The Phantom Troupe". It burns the way I left her, no note, no goodbye, no hug, just a statement, a small but terrifying conversation, and tears in a junkyard. Her footsteps echo my own as I walk. eventually, we make it to our new "home" if you can even call it that. a series of broken, run-down buildings in the middle of the dessert, about 50 miles outside of the nearest city-- Yorknew City. Feitan, Nobunaga, and Machi shower me with questions about what exactly we are to do with this new "Phantom Troupe" and no matter how many times I answer, they always have something else to add. To add my own questions into the mix, I ask them about Nen, to which nobody can give me a straight answer. Between 'I'm not sure' and 'it's kind of like magic' I haven't been able to understand it any better. I leave and search for anyone that could tell me anything. I find myself traveling back to Meteor City, taking the Troupe with me. If I know one thing, it's that whatever Nen is, it's going to come in handy when doing this whole stealing business. Maybe it's how I left, maybe it's our history together, but I'm drawn back to Y/N, she's too important to me. I want to make right what I left unfinished.

Y/N POV

I hear a knock on the door, and i'm thinking it's Chrollo, that he came back to see me, I reluctantly open the door, only to see the same man I dreaded.

"What do you want Chrollo?"

I lean against the doorway and cross my arms against my chest, tightly.

C: "I wanted to say sorry...I left you in the worst way possible, and I'm sorry for that. I just wanted to see you again. Will you forgive me for that?"

I stare at him, cocking an eyebrow. "you left me all alone here and now you come crawling back after 3 weeks? That's a bit petty, don't you think?" I slam the door on him and stomp my way upstairs. But, Chrollo knows me better than I know myself, because he's climbing through my window before I even get to close the door.

"What about me slamming a door in your face makes you think I want to see you right now?" I keep my arms crossed and let out a angry sigh. I watch as Chrollo takes off the jacket he's wearing, now I know something's up with him. Chrollo walks over to me, wearing only his standard black pants, seemingly tailored to his skin. I start to back up towards the door, but he keeps walking towards me. I feel the door press up against my back, Chrollo's face is mere centimeters away from mine, I can feel his short, warm breaths on my face, he just stares into my eyes, and me into his. Never once breaking contact. He whispers softly to me, each word hitting my skin just as they leave his mouth.

C: "You know I'll never leave your side, not forever... I'll always come back for you, no matter where I am, you'll find me, and I'll find you."

As soon as he's ended his last word, he's gone. The dust and dirt beneath his jacket still floating in the air.

Oh Chrollo...Should you ever wish for me, I'd hear you anywhere.

(1332 words for those who are curious. Anyway, just a normal end note here, what do you guys think so far? Personally, I like it a lot :3 I'm pretty proud of myself for keeping up with it instead of just abandoning it like I have with past projects. I might edit some of the previous chapters to see if they need improvement and to make sure everything flows nicely. I've got a test for school tomorrow, so I need to study, keep expecting daily updates from me, but keep in mind that I've got many things to keep track of, and writing this isn't my first priority. Good night everyone! >Carson
