No POV
Chrollo and Y/N have been living on Whale Island for about a week now, they've adopted a "cottage core" aesthetic to their lifestyle. Y/N has taken up sewing, she makes rugs and tapestries when she isn't working in the market for their house. Chrollo started working at the local library, he joined a book club by accident. Chrollo still hasn't found a purpose on the island, but Y/N assures him he'll find something. Overall, they love this new set up, no threats, no hunter association looking for Chrollo, no busy life, just peace and quiet in a small village... But we wouldn't be telling this story if everything was perfect, we're telling this story because of what happens.
C: I don't like being useless
Y/N: I know Chrollo, but you promised we'd have a peaceful life together, outside of the city.
C: I know, but I don't have a purpose here, I did back in York New.
Y/N: If you want to go back to the Phantom Troupe, I won't stop you, but I'm staying here. And I can't promise you'll have a bed here when you come back.
C: I understand, but you know I can't stay in one place forever like you can...
Y/N: If it helps, know that I'll never stop loving you... Chrollo Lucilfer.
C: You only use my last name when you're upset...
Y/N: I am upset! You're going to leave just because you don't have something to steal or kill!
C: That's not true, I gave up the stealing and killing when I made that promise to you.
Y/N: Oh really!? Then why did you and your troupe kill those people at the auction?! Or the Kurta Clan?!
C: Shut your mouth woman!
Chrollo covers his mouth with his hand. Y/N stabs the knife she's cutting vegetables with into a cutting board and storms out of the house and down to the forest trail. Chrollo stumbles around before running after her.
C: Y/N! Wait! Come back! Please! I'm Sorry!
Y/N keeps walking down the trail, she throws a rock at Chrollo, it lands at his feet. Chrollo continues following her, trying to get her to say something, anything to him. This continues until Y/N stops on a bridge over a stream.
C: Y/N! please! I'm sorry I said that. Come back, please...
Y/N: Don't raise your voice to me ever again. Remember what I did the last time you yelled at me. Remember it well.
C: I do, and I will, now please, come back, it's getting dark.
Y/N: You better be gone before I wake up tomorrow, else you won't be able to leave at all.
C: I will, 3 weeks, I promise.
Y/N: You come back early, and I'm going to send you away, you come back late, I'm going to send you away, 3 weeks.
C: 3 weeks, no sooner, no later.
Y/N: could you carry me back, I didn't put any shoes on...
C: of course.
Chrollo carried Y/N back to the cottage, she went back to cutting vegetables and Chrollo sat on one of the fur chairs Y/N made a few months ago. He sighed, his mind flipping between whether to leave now or wait.
C: You're serious about not letting me come back if I don't come back in exactly 3 weeks?
Y/N: Absolutely, I'm a woman of my word.
C: And I have to be gone by morning?
Y/N: Yes, and if you're not, you won't be leaving at all.
C: Is this my punishment?
Y/N: only if you view it as one.
C: Will you give me a kiss?
Y/N: maybe, I need some persuading though
C: Please?
Y/N: No.
C: Damn it.
Y/N put the vegetables into a bowl, she put the cutting board and knife into the sink. She started humming to herself as she dished everything out and set it on the end of the table for Chrollo to pick up.
C: You never cook this early...
Y/N: You'll need the fuel when you leave.
C: Be honest, do you need a break from me?
Y/N: No.
C: Then why push me away because of something I said by accident?
Y/N: I don't want to do that again...
C: I thought you made sure you wouldn't...
Y/N: I did my best, it got worse when you left, and it peaked the night we were reunited.
C: You know I love you.
Y/N: And I love you.
C: Then why?
Y/N: Too many memories about it.
C: I see... would you like me to leave now?
Y/N: No...I'm scared...
C: I know darling...I know...
Chrollo got up and pulled Y/N closer to him, wrapping his arms around her. He held onto her tightly, like he was afraid to let go. Which he was.
C: I'll see you in 3 weeks darling, make sure you take care of yourself while I'm gone...
Y/N: I will.
She paused for a second, maybe two.
Y/N: I want to come with you...
C: you can't.
Y/N: I want to.
C: I won't let you.
Y/N: I'm pregnant.
C: you said that the night I left Meteor City, no you're not.
Y/N: I'll see you in 3 weeks.
