"Where the hell  have you been? Did I not say 5:45? You are late!"

Jake got me "home" at about 5:50, which was like 3 hours in Annie time.

"A, it's only 5 minutes. Calm down."

"CALM DOWN? YOU MEET A BOY, AND ALL OF A SUDDEN YOU AREN'T HOME ON TIME! BELIEVE IT OR NOT, I AM IN CHARGE OF YOU! UNTIL YOU ARE 18, YOU'RE MY RESPONSIBILITY!"

"Jake, it's fine. You can go home now." I muttered. Annie was close to hysterics. He looked at me, and when I nodded, he was out the door.

I walked over to Annie and squeezed her tightly. "I know I'm late, and I'm sorry. It won't happen again."

"I just don't want you to get caught again, or have what happened to... never mind, I was just worried."

"Don't worry, I will make sure I am on time. We'll be fine. That won't happen to me. They can't get me anyway. Like you said, I have a legal guardian, and I always keep my paperwork in my purse."

"After what happened with... her, I've just been nervous. And then I met you, a strong 14 year old who wanted a job here. I took you under my wing, especially after hearing your story. Just... Promise not to do it again? Or, at least call me and tell me if it will happen?"

"Pinkie Promise." We locked our pinkies, and laughed. I took over in the front of the store, as Annie had to wash off her ruined makeup.

BRENT'S POV

As I was walking towards Random Fandoms, I saw Jake walk out, while still looking inside the store. I went up to him and tapped his shoulder. "What's happening in there?"

"I don't know, man. I really don't know."

I am so sorry about how short this is! I didn't save the full chapter, but didn't realize that until somebody pointed it out to me. I will make the next one longer, I promise. Sorry, again.
