Chapter 9

Massimo's Pov

Bruce hurriedly picks it up and there's just a little crack on the screen. He looks at her and she's smirking, he returns the smirk and hers fades as she looks at him with confusion clearly written on her face, then realisation as she frowns.

"Nice try darling." Bruce says in a fake British accent.

He winks at her and walks out.

Chris walks over to my side and we're just staring at her, watching her every move. She seems nervous as she's fiddling with the hem of her shirt.

"Danielle."

She looks up at me

"Better pray... Pray that Skai isn't hurt and not even a hair on her head is touched. Else..." I say slowly.

I watch her take in a long breath with wide eyes... Then she starts crying and letting out loud sobs.

"I swear I didn't have anything to do with it! Jeff is solely responsible, I swear. I can't even hurt a fly..." she sniffles.

Bruce walks in with another detective and whispers into my ear that I should follow him.

So, Chris and I walk out of the interrogation room she's in, leaving the other detective and a cop in there with her.
Bruce walks us to another interrogation room,

"Jeff's here. My men caught him in front of his apartment complex trying to load his trunk with suitcases, I'm guessing to escape. Now, don't say anything to him, I'll ask him the questions, you'll just listen." Bruce says.

Chris and I nod

He pushes open the door and we walk in to see Jeff seated behind a table. When he sees us, his eyes widen and he sits up.

"Hello Mr Baker, I'm sure detective Mike, who brought you here read your rights to you and you understood them?..." Bruce asks him

"Yes he did and I understood them..." Jeff responds.

"I know you're wondering why you're here, first of all I need to introduce myself. I'm detective Bruce Mchenry, I think you should be able to recognise your employer Mr Valastro and his friend Mr Spencer... Well, you're here because I'll like to ask you a few questions about your co-worker Ms Skai Phillips."

"uh... why are you asking me about her?"

"Well you see Jeff - can I call you Jeff?"

He nods and Bruce continues

"Good... Ms Phillips has gone missing from her home in Lavender Gardens Estate downtown and I wanted to know if you know anything about it?"

I'm watching his every move like a hawk, I think he can tell because he glances at me from time to time, nervously.

"Oh, I didn't know that and I know nothing about it." He tries to sound confident.

"Well, I got to know you two had gone on a date and it went, not so well and you happened to be upset about it. I even found out from an eye witness, that you threatened her a couple of times in your office hallway."

"I don't remember anything like that. Skai and I aren't friends, but we're not enemies either."

I can't believe this! I can feel anger surging through every part of my body. Why didn't she tell me, she was being threatened by Jeff?

"Okay, well do you know a certain Ms Anderson?"

I see him stiffen and tense up

"uhm uh, I uh... Yeah, I think I know her."

"Not think Jeff, in fact you two are very close. Well I have her in the next interrogation room and she says you master minded the kidnap of Ms Skai Phillips, care to explain?"

He frowns and I watch as his jaw tightens.

"Where were you on the 17th of this month by, say 4pm?"

"Uhm, I was hanging out with some of my friends at a bar close to my office."

"Oh really? I need you to watch this tape closely and tell me who's in it"

Bruce seems to be enjoying this, he's in his element.

He nods and Bruce plays the surveillance tape, he retrieved from the facility manager at Skai's apartment building. We watch as Jeff takes in a breath and he looks nervous - at the end of the tape Bruce turns to him.

"Who's this in the tape then?" Bruce asks with a cocked brow.

"That bitch! She planned the whole thing! I can't believe she's trying to pin it on me!"

"I don't know Jeff, without a thorough confession, you're going to be in a whole lot of trouble, because I don't see Danielle in this video, just you man. Plus she's insisting she had nothing to do with it, it was all you"

Jeff sighs,

"Okay, I'll tell you everything, the whole truth."
