Chapter 12

Skai's pov

It's been about a month now and I haven't seen the short man - who I'm guessing is José. He hasn't been to my cell after he came the first day I was brought here. I don't know if I should be happy about that or worried..

The cell gate opens and a new guy walks in with what looks like food, at least they've been feeding me and I'm not dead yet so that means they're not yet ready to get rid of me, keyword 'not yet ready'.

He places the food in front of me and walks out, then stops to talk to the two buff guys guarding the cell I'm in, I strain my ears to hear them.

They're talking about me, one of the buff guys asked him when they will be making a ransom call and the other guy said he's not sure yet as Jeff and Danielle are in police custody and they've busted marcello's place, so they will have to move me...With that he leaves.

I'm happy Jeff and Danielle have been arrested, but now they'll have to move me, again. Further away from home, I'm not even sure where we are presently, this is emotionally, mentally and physically draining.

Just then someone enters the cell I'm in, i Iook up and meet black eyes staring at me.

I look behind him and notice the two guards on the floor and my whole body stiffens, I look at him again with wide eyes

"please don't hurt me."

I say with a shaky voice and I'm seconds away from bursting into tears.

"I'm not gonna hurt you, just come with me..." he says.

I frown, omg... They want to kill me now, omg, no...

"what? Who are you?..." I panic

"look, I don't have time... Now, come with me, we need to leave now! I'll explain on the way."

I nod and hurriedly stand to my feet, he leads us out of the cell and up a flight of stairs, then after walking and hiding a few times, we run to a car parked on the side and the driver speeds off. How did he pull that off? Is everyone in there dead?

"I know you're scared and you need answers. First of, my name is Guy Ferris, at least that's what people call me out here on the streets."

He says with a charming smile and I simply nod

"Well, I work for Mr José and that's how I knew how to get out of there undetected..." guy says.

I cut him off

"why are you helping me? Or are you even helping me?"

I look at him suspiciously and he chuckles.

"Well, my cousin Liz, is a friend to your sister Lava. Lava put up your picture on her social media and my sister put it up on hers. When I saw the picture I knew you were the one, I asked my cousin who you are to her and she said you are her friends sister and if I know anything that can help them find you, I shouldn't hesitate to tell her. I read about you online from posts your friends, boyfriend and parents put up and I seen you are a nice person and didn't deserve this treatment. So, I decided to help you. But it won't be easy, José is a powerful man and he doesn't joke when it comes to his money and right now, you're like an investment. He planned to ask for a ransom, and when he gets the money, he'll ship you off to be used in a prostitution ring in Hong Kong and that's totally unfair. I'm sure by now, he's looking for you, so I'll take you way out of town and we'll call your boyfriend to come get you. Do you understand?"

I'm just staring at him with my mouth agape.

I'm trying to process this new bit of information, why did it have to be me? Not that I wish it happened to someone else, but this is totally unfair. I hope this Guy person can be trusted.

Few minutes later, we arrive at a cabin in the woods. It looks eerie, like a place where a cliché horror movie could be acted. But right now, there are so many things on my mind, being eaten by a ghost isn't one of them. I can't help but worry, what will happen if José gets us, he looks like a mean man and I can't help but fear for Guy too, as he has betrayed his boss.

The cabin looks better on the inside, than it looked outside. Guy shows me, to what will be my room. He introduces me to the driver, who brought us here, his name is Gabriel Pérez, he's a very calm person and doesn't speak much - at least not to me.

I take my shower for the first time in weeks and I feel so refreshed. I know I'm crazy for trusting and believing someone I don't know - But hey, he got me out of that place. But, what if he's working with José and making it seem as though he's genuinely helping me?

No, no I'm overthinking this and I need to stop as my head is beginning to ache.

After dressing up in the fresh clothes he gave me - black sweat pants and a faded blue t-shirt. I walk out of the room, my own footsteps are scaring me and i managed to scare myself at least twice. The pitter-patter of my bare feet can be heard as I walk on the hallway towards the kitchen as I hear voices coming from there.

When I get to the kitchen the guys stop talking and turn to face me. Okay, this is awkward,

"hi"

I say nervously with a small wave.
