Chapter 39

-Tony's POV-

"Daddy." Laela says while tugging on the bottom of my shirt, "I wanna learn how to ride my back without training wheels. Can you teach me?"

"Of course princess. You go get your helmet then and I'll go take your training wheels off." I say.

She smiles before running off to grab her helmet while I go to take the training wheels off her bike.

"Daddy, what are you doing?" Luka asks as I finish taking one wheel off.

"Laela wanted to learn how to ride her bike without training wheels." I say while looking up at him.

"Can you help me learn too?" He asks.

"Yeah." I say, giving him a smile, "Go grab your helmet."

He nods his head and runs to grab his helmet. Laela makes it into the garage as I finish taking off the last wheel.

"You ready princess?" I ask.

"Yeah!" She says excitedly.

She sits on her bike and I help her pedal out to the driveway.

"Ready princess. I'll hold you, but after a little, I'll let go." I say and she nods her head.

She starts to pedal as I keep a hand on her back and the other on the end of her handlebar.

"You can let go now daddy." She says.

"You sure?" I ask.

"Yeah." She says.

"Okay." I say before letting go.

I watch her ride her bike and keep her balance.

"You got it princess! Keep going!" I say excitedly.

She slows down and stops eventually before getting off her bike and turning to look at me. I see the biggest smile on her face. She gets off of her bike and runs over to me. I open my arms and she jumps into my arms.

"I'm so proud of you princess." I say while kissing her cheek.

"Thank you daddy for helping me." She says.

"Of course princess. Now go get-" I say only to be cutoff by Luka.

"Daddy, where's mama at?" Luka asks while walking over to us.

"She took Easton to the doctor this morning. She'll be back soon." I say.

I help him buckle his helmet before he gets on his bike. Laela comes back over with her bike and sits down on the ground.

"Ready Luka?" I ask as I put my hand on his back and the other on the end of the handlebar.

"Yeah." Luka says.

"Okay, start pedaling." I say and he does as I hold on.

I let go and watch him keep going, and then suddenly he falls.

"Shit." I mumble as I hear him start to cry.

I run over to him and kneel down next to him. I look at his knee and see he had scraped it. I pick him up and carry him inside with Laela following us.

"Daddy, is Luka gonna be okay?" Laela asks as I set Luka down on the bathroom counter.

"Yeah, he'll be fine." I say as I look for our first aid spray, "Okay buddy, I'm gonna spray this on your knee."

"No daddy, it hurts." Luka says while pulling his leg away from me.

"I know, but it'll help your leg heal. Please let me help you." I say while looking up into his brown eyes that still have tears in them.

"O-okay daddy." He says.

"Daddy, let me sit on the counter with him." Laela says.

I nod my head and put her on the counter next to him. She grabs Luka's hand before I spray it on his leg.

"Ow ow ow. Daddy, it hurts." He says with tears falling down his cheeks as he looks up at me.

I put a bandaid on his knee and he lets go of Laela's hand. I set Laela down on the ground before picking up Luka and holding him.

"Daddy, I'm gonna go color." Laela says before running upstairs.

"Buddy, do you wanna go sit down on the couch?" I ask.

"Yeah." He says quietly.

I wipe his cheeks and take him out to the living room before setting him down on the couch.

"I'll be back." I say before going outside to put their bikes away.

I shut the garage and go inside to sit next to Luka. He climbs onto my lap and cuddles up to me after I put on Cars for him.

"Are you okay now buddy?" I ask.

"Kinda. It still hurts." He says quietly.

"I'm sorry." I say while rubbing his back gently.

I hear the front door open and see Haiden there with Easton.

"Hi mamas." I say while giving her a small smile.

"Hi bubba. Let me go put him down for a nap." She says.

I nod my head and she takes Easton upstairs. A little bit later, she comes back downstairs and sits next to me. She kisses my cheek and runs her hand through Luka's hair.

"What happened to his knee?" Haiden says while looking down at it.

"They wanted to learn how to ride their bikes without training wheels today, but he ended up falling and scraping his knee." I say.

"Aww, my poor baby." She says while looking at him.

"Did Laela figure out how to ride her bike?" She asks.

"Yep." I say.

"I'm proud of them." She says.

I notice Luka's breathing slow down slightly and look to see him asleep.

"I'm gonna go take him to bed." I say.

"I'll come too so I can check on Laela." She says.

I stand up and carry Luka up to their room and see Laela also asleep.

Once we shut their door, Haiden and I decide to finish Cars. Haiden lays her head on my shoulder as I wrap my arm around her shoulders. I kiss the top of her head and she turns to look up at me.

"I want a kiss." She says.

I peck her lips and she frowns at me.

"No, a real one. Gimme." She says, making me laugh.

I give her another peck and she groans.

"Nooo." She whines.

She climbs onto my lap and looks me in my eyes. She leans forward and kisses me.

"You happy now?" I ask once she pulls away.

"Yep." She says before laying her head onto my shoulder.

I smile and rub her back as I watch the movie once again.

"I love you." She mumbles.

"I love you too mamas." I say.
