Tony felt lonely. He was sitting in the lab, away from everyone else, just thinking. He was absentmindedly turning something between his fingers. Percy had gone to Camp to see how everyone was holding up. He promised Tony that he won't die, but he looked unsure of it. Tony knew he could take care of himself, but sometimes the scared little 5 year old kid would return to his mind, and Tony would panic. Being the 'dad', Tony thought that it was HIS job to forget the past and be optimistic, but EVERYONE around him was better at it than he was.

"Mr. Stark?" Peter's voice was faint. "could you help me with something?"

Tony reluctantly nodded and got up to help him. But his mind kept drifting away. He would wince at the littlest buzz of a machine.

"Mr. Stark, you look really pale," Peter said with concern.

"It's okay," Tony assured him‌, not really believing himself. "It's fine, kid."

"Are you sure?"

Tony nodded.

"Tony you look like you need some rest." Banner said. "Go get some rest. We'll manage without you. Even we have braincells, you know.''

Tony was about to protest, but then the door flew open, revealing an excited, tired and panting Percy.

"Downstairs," he panted. "Thor called... Look!"

"Are you okay?" Shuri asked him. "because I didn't understand ANYTHING."

"Just go downstairs and look," he said.

Everybody did as he asked them to do. Tony was the last person.

"How was your joy trip?" He asked Percy, who seemed to have regained his breath.

"Jolly," Percy grunted. Tony grinned at him.

"Why?"

"Well you got to know that we have a spy," Percy said, making it clear that the trip WASN'T jolly. "the hunters joined us, so the army is a LITTLE bigger. Annabeth's hurt-"

"Ooooooh," Tony teased, making Percy blush and shut him up with a strict and tired "DAD!"

"Sorry," Tony apologized. "Had to do that. You have a way with girls, by the way."

Percy snorted. "So do you."

Tony raised his eyebrows. "I'm your dad." He reminded Percy.

"Yeah, still." Percy said.

Tony rolled his eyes. "What else?"

"Nothing much. We're holding up, but it's not enough. His army's like, MASSIVE. It never seems to end."

Tony exhaled sharply.

"What's wrong?" Percy asked him.

Tony shook his head. Percy regarded him with his beautiful eyes, probably thinking it was worth taking the conversation further.

"If you say so." Percy decided. "just you probably want to go downstairs."

"Why?" Tony asked.

"You'll see." Percy said.

Tony stood up and walked out of the door. When he saw what Percy had told him to see, he wished he hadn't listened to him. Because standing next to Thor, grinning broadly at everyone, was Loki. Tony's first instinct was to turn back and quickly slip away, but everyone spotted him before he could.

"Hello, Stark," Loki said way too happily. "you look older. Uh, different."

"Hello, Loki," Tony mumbled, trying to ignore the fact that Percy was trying his best not to laugh. "you look exactly the same. Except without an army. And you're not in a cage."

Loki pursed his lips. "I only came because somebody begged." He said. "if Stark doesn't want me to stay, I can leave-"

"No." Cap cut in. "embarrassing or not, we need Loki. He's going to be OUR spy. He will disguise himself and sneak into the enemy's camp. At the least, we can hope that he comes back without dying OR secretly joining the enemy."

"what is Mr. Loki going to disguise himself as?" Peter asked in a small voice. "all of their army is mon-"

He was cut off by Loki, who turned into an super ugly monster.

"oh, he's going to blend in well." Tony heard Percy mumble under his breath.

"he would've blend in well even without the disguise." Tony assured him.

Percy flashed him a grin.

"I assure you, brother," Loki or whatever he was now grumbled. "I will not join their army. I don't like people who want to kill ME and rule the world."

"yes, brother." Thor said. "I am sure of that."

Loki grinned ugly-ly at everyone, then slithered off. (he was something like half snake half some other animal, but Tony didn't really care.)

"so our spy problem is solved." Thor said. "now, I know he was on bad terms with us, but my brother means well. He heard my plea and came."

"Thor, we're taking your word for it," Nat said. "but one mistake, and I'm blaming everything on you."

"please, Nat," Cap mumbled tiredly. "give him a break. We have to trust each other. Its the only choice we have now."

Nat pursed her lips EXACTLY like Loki had, but didn't say anything. For a few minutes, everyone just stood there.

"back to training and working, guys." Carol broke the silence. Tony had to admit that she had a way of being optimistic and making other people optimistic. But she looked glum today. "just because Loki is a spy from our side, doesn't mean we're winning. Keep training. Work hard. Fight the best you can. THAT'S the only choice we have."

Everyone nodded, and went back to their stations.

yo! I dropped this chapter fast because I'll be really busy the next week and i won't be able to do anything. it's not much, but it's...it. that DID not make sense. and once again, friends, my ability to come up with titles has startled me. this title is very... descriptive. and it's... not a clickbait, i guess. yup. that's the only plus points of the title. thanks for checking out my partner's story, she doesn't know yet, but she'll be thrilled. she's convinced she sucks at writing. if she sucks then i suck more...?

anyway, i hope you all enjoy. how's everyone holding up with the lockdown? and school or college if you go to them? hope you're all well and taking care of yourselves.

stay safe! peace :)
