Species Education: Daemons

Daemons are the most feared people in the world. It doesn't matter what type you are or what you look like, if you have red eyes, everyone fears you.

There's some that Hunt, some that Protect, others that only live in the territory peacefully and of course, those you should never speak about.

Learn about the species that no one ever talks about due to the false belief that maybe if you ignore them, they'll go away.

Types of Daemons

There are several types of Daemons and each one plays an important role in the world, even if it's not a good one.

Hunters

The Hunters while usually born into a family that's done it for years, isn't something that you're both with. Hunters are the protectors of the Daemons as well as the other species in the world. But the world doesn't know that because if they really knew about what went one outside the gates of Hell, there would be global panic.

Hunters protect us all from the Unmentionables. The track down the nasty creatures and kill them, finding them even in crowds full of both humans and supernaturals. They're trained from childhood well until they're of age before they're out in the field.

Even then only twenty percent of Hunters live until they're thirty.

Royals

Like anyone, the Daemons have a hierarchy that shows who has power and like always, the king is on top.

The majority of Daemons are just creatures that happen to have red eyes and a wicked sense of mischief. They're always getting in trouble for stealing, fights and anything that surrounds negative energy.

Which is why they're so easily rules but the Daemon King that rules over his people with an ironed fist, loyal minions and terrible creatures. The people hate their King and they hate being seen as the bad species or the one that does the most damage. But while most of them aren't, the few that art make the warnings worth it.

The King had been in power for five hundred years, and his son is rarely ever seen around. Until now.

Dregs

The Dregs are Daemons that don't have any scary of defining attribute that binds them to their DNA other than the dark eyes that flash red when faced with big emotions.

Dregs live in peace in Underground city, a place thats held exactly as it states, underground, beneath a mountain.

Either with magic or with some force no one knows about, beneath the mouth is a red sky and orange sun that moves along like the sky above, the passageway putting them right outside the gates of Hell, a days ride from the place of nightmares and evil souls.

Unmentionables

These are the Daemons that authors wrote stories about. The ones that kids have nightmares about and swear to their parents they saw in their closet. Their probably right.

These creatures are ones that are born from the souls of the damned that escaped the clutches of Hell and the punishments they receive. Only the worst if the souls end up in the Center Circle of Sins and any dark soul that escapes there is going to do a whole lot of damage.

When free these creatures cause wars, possessions, murders and all sorts of disgusting things. They put the world in chaos in order to get revenge.

The world things of the Unmentionables as stories to tell around a campfire. Myths to be laughed about, only because Hunters began finding and sending these creatures back to Hell.

It wasn't the Devil, it's a Daemon, and if he finds a dark soul alive, he'll make that body his home and spread chaos wherever he touches.

Culture

Daemon culture is a simple one. They Hunt, the trick, they steal and they try their best to stay alive and not let the darkness inside them consume them all.

They don't have a love God and so no Daemon is promised a soulmate they only get one if another species falls for them. They're one of the only ones in the world not promised happiness.

The Darkness

There is a myth, in the Daemon world, that everyone's soul, who's body bleeds with black blood has been touched by the evil death spirit Kulam.

Every person has a bit of darkness within them. You can either control it and contain it, doing your best to not let yourself succumb to the darkness, or you can let it guide you and fill you until you're no better than an Unmentionable. Until you come the living version of one.

Once you start to embrace the evil, there's almost never any turning back. And if you let it, it can begin to spread to others.

If you keep it in your soul, you have a chance, if only a small one, to come back from it and stay alive. If you let it reach your heart, you're dead. Or at least you wish you were.

It's up to you if you believe those who claim to have had an encounter with a Daemon. sits up to you to believe the stories. But just know.

They're out there.

They see you.

And if you have even a speck of darkness in your heart or soul, Daemon or not.

They'll find you.
