Chapter 13: Legacy pt. 2
Stella's POV
•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

The next morning, I found myself walking down the hallway with the Baker siblings. "J, relax," I stated with a small sigh.

"Stel's right. I'm sure you'll play," Liv reassured her twin.

"Yeah, that's not the point, guys, okay?" Jordan replied to us. "I should be starting, I earned it. If dad was gonna bench me all along, why did he help me out?"

"Help you with what?" Liv asked confused. I nodded my head in agreement since I was confused as well. Jordan never mentioned his dad helping him out recently.

"Nothing.. Nothing," Jordan insisted as he placed his free hand in his front pocket while the other adjusted his backpack strap on his shoulder.

"Jordan..." Liv dragged out. We all three stopped walking and faced one another. "Remember our new Baker family pact? We're all here to support each other. Okay, what's up?"

"Let's just say I didn't exactly get lucky with the drug test."

"You didn't do it? Dad helped you pass?" Liv questioned while I stood there in shock.

"Don't say anything," Jordan whispered as he looked around before making eye contact with us again. "He's still treating me like a kid, thinks I can't take care of myself."

"Or he's just protecting you?" Liv stated as I watched the two siblings talk this situation out.

"That's the thing, Liv. I don't need him to protect me anymore," Jordan admitted. Deep down I knew Jordan didn't mean that, but I could see the pain in his eyes and knew he meant it in this exact moment.

"Then maybe you should tell him that," Liv replied back. After Oliva's comment, she made her way to class leaving Jordan and I in the hallway.

"J, you know your dad is doing what he thinks is right. He's not trying to hurt you," I explained to him as he looked over at me.

"I'm not a child anymore, okay? I don't need his protection," Jordan answered back sharply. I nodded my head and let out a small sigh. "Has he mentioned playing me at all?"

"My lips are sealed," I stated as I mimicked the motion of locking my lips. Jordan grabbed my hands and intertwined our fingers together while he smiled- his famous adorable smile- at me.

"El-..."

"No, no, no," I repeated as I removed my fingers from his grasp and took a step back. "Don't you try and use me to find out information. I'm Switzerland when it comes to football."

"Stop being lame," Jordan huffed before I pinched his arm in anger from that comment.

"Rude, I'm off to class," I told him before turning around walking to my class.

I was sitting in front of a frustrated Billy Baker before the game started. I could sense he was stressed from all the huffs and puffs he was giving the tablet screen.

"Stella, I can ask you something? Completely neutral here?" Coach Baker asked me after he stopped angrily typing on his tablet.
