Glass
Shattered glass, broken promises
The shards are piercing me, cutting me to piecesGilded it may appear to others
But Those smashed bits are
Numbing all my sensesGhosts of the past haunts me
Running me down, taunting me
Every splinter is a memoryYou only see the woman
I want you to see
My Fragility, my vulnerability that's only for meTrusting someone with my heart is not my forte
I've been dragged to hell and back
It left me bludgeoned and brokenIf you catch sight and get to
know the real me
I'm too frightened to see
What will you make of meWill your eyes show disdain
And peg me for a fool
Or will you come closer and see my valueDon't you see I am petrified
Knowing that you've come closer
Than anyone who has ever triedAre you here to break me again
And laugh at my weakness
Or are you here to help me and be a witnessAre you here to put back every part
Piece by piece, bit by bit
To make whole my broken heartAre you here to just feed your ego and say you're the hero
Or will you stay even if I tell you to goWill you embrace me, accept me
Even if I am damaged
Or will you also leave me
Abandoned and mangledI am my own hero don't you know
But I also need someone who won't let me goSomeone who won't reject the dark side of me
Someone who will be jubilant to see my light and let me be freeIn my fragile state
I just want someone who will share the weight
I need and want someone to love me truly
Someone who will stay.— Started this work on September 19, 2020 around 7pm. I was able to finish it September 20, 2020 12:30am. I fell asleep after. Upon waking up, I read it again. Re-edited it multiple times and added some more paragraphs.
It took awhile because at first, I didn't know where to take the next paragraphs. Finally, after writing it on and off last night and today, I've finished it. It's not much but, I hope you give it a go.
This was inspired by an unfinished beautiful painting of a brilliant artist—at least in my book she's an awesome artist and person 😎. But seriously, she's really a great artist and she's very creative and very smart. She's also someone I love and I care for deeply.
