The spell was going according to plan and Virgil and I would be free! No one would know that we got captured and we would be able to get back to our normal lives.

But then Virgil was in pain, Logan was in pain, then Roman, and lastly me. It felt awful. I couldn't stop it and I fell. I started to black out but the pain went away before I could.

I cried, the pain was too much and that means it failed. We are bonded to the humans. The worse part is that we will have a hard time getting back home. I don't like home but it still is important to me.

Virgil groans in pain as he sits up, "Patton, are you okay?"

I nod, "I'm fine. The pain went away." I notice that both humans went quiet. I can sense that they both still have life in them.

"They blacked out," Virgil states. "I can carry them."

"No. I can help. I can control it. I just have to be careful." I can control my powers I just have to trust myself. I won't think about it at all.

Virgil stands up and slowly walks over to me, "Hey Pop-Star. You don't need to push yourself. I can shapeshift into a bigger version of me and carry them both home."

"But you will be pushing yourself," I say with worry in my voice.

"I'll be fine." He gives me a small smile. "Don't worry. I got this."

I nod and watch him glow a bright purple. He is a lot taller and muscular. He picks up the nerdy looking human and the other human who is kind of attractive. We walk back to their house and he sets them on the couches.

He goes back to light purple then back to his normal size and sits down on a chair in the kitchen.

I look at him worried, "Are you okay?"

"I'm fine. It didn't take that much out of me."

I relax a little and then we sit together at the table, trying to think of what went wrong.

Virgil's says, "Maybe they read it wrong. Or they just want to keep us here."

I sigh, "Maybe. But they seemed like they really want to help us and their auras are nice. They would never do anything wrong. At least not this wrong."

Virgil shrugs, "I don't know. These are the same humans that kept trying to capture us when they were kids and the half blood, that's her son in the red. We cannot trust them."

"Half blood," The attractive human asks.

"Roman," the other human says.

"Logan, what does half blood mean?"

Virgil rolls his eyes, "Half blood. When someone is a mix of two different species. In this case, your mother-"

Roman growls and gets off the couch, "Don't you dare bring her into this!"

Virgil stands up from the kitchen table, taking some steps towards Roman, "She brought you two into this! She is the reason we are stuck here in the first place!"

Roman runs at Virgil and tackles him to the ground with a loud thud, "She would never do something that was dangerous! She loves me and loves Logan like he is her own! You never even met her!"

Virgil pushes Roman off of him and gets on top of him, "She put your lives in danger all the time along with others! You don't know anything about her!"

Roman punches Virgil in the face and I rush over, grabbing Virgil and pushing him behind me in a protective way.

Logan grabs Roman and holds him in place.

I say, "We can work this out. Calm down please. We are all stressed out and we need to work together to figure out how to undo all of this. Virgil, you cannot talk about anyone that way. Especially someone who is no longer alive. Roman, I don't know you that well, but you can't attack someone just because of something they say."

Roman huffs then looks at me suspiciously. "Wait. How did you know about my mother?"

"As a soul snatcher I can tell when someone is born and when they die. When your mother quit coming outside I did a small investigation by holding an item that belonged to her. I saw her die. It was sad."

Virgil tensed up and I knew he would have questions. I grabbed his hand gently.

Roman looks shocked and tears up, "She died in a hospital. Of course it was sad. She was alone!"

"A hospital...?"

"Enough. We need to find out what went wrong," Virgil says as he is leaning aganist the kitchen counter, arms crossed over his chest, and a bruise forming on his nose from Roman.

Logan nods, "Agreed. This should have never happened." He sighs.

Roman gets out of Logan's hold and sits down on the couch, "We read it correctly. It should have worked!"

Logan sighs, "I know."

I hum in thought, "Maybe the barrier wasn't weak enough."

Virgil shook his head, "I could tell it was. It should have worked!" He yells and makes a fist. "The only it could have failed is if someone wanted it to."

I look at him shocked, "So one of the humans wanted it to fail?"

Roman jumps up, "No! We don't want you two here! No offense, Patton."

Virgil scoffs, "Whatever. But maybe. Just maybe..." He hugs himself as he looks down, "Someone else is involved. Someone who knows about us and knows that Logan and Roman accidentally caught us and wants us stuck together."

I get consumed by fear and worry, "Who? How?"

Virgil shrugs and stays silent as his gaze stays on the floor.

Logan sighs, "Well for now we will have to find another solution. I think we should all sit down and learn more about each other. See each other as someone with feelings instead of us being reckless."

I nod, "I agree."

Virgil and I sit on one couch while the humans sit on the other couch. We all sit in silence until one of us finally breaks it with the first question.
