exhilarate ~ verb : to make joyful or lively, refresh
The next Friday evening, Liam, Lou and I were gathered by the blazing fire in Louis' large mansion while watching television with Lou's four younger sisters, mum and stepdad.
On the television was some kids movie that was suitable for Daisy and Phoebe, who were only four years old. I wasn't watching the TV and I think Louis noticed as he caught my eye and beckoned me upstairs with Liam.
Once upstairs in Louis' bedroom I lay on the perfectly made bed and stared at the ceiling.
From Louis' bedroom, you would be able to tell in an instant that he was gay. For starters, a huge poster of Channing Tatum covered half of one wall. The poster had originally been mine, but I have it to Louis when I repainted my bedroom walls last year. Next, was the walls. Really, Louis' bedroom walls were a chalkboard for him, but mostly me and Liam, to express himself upon. Super gay concept, I know. Liam and I always doodled on the walls which was mostly always pictures of a Louis character and a Channing or David character (David was Louis' crush from forever) and they'd be holding hands or whatever. It made us laugh. But also, Louis put inspirational quotes on the walls too like 'Be yourself. Everyone else is already taken.' and Louis' favourite quote: 'You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself forward in any direction you choose. You're on your own, and you know what you know. And you are the guy who'll decide where to go ~ Dr. Seuss.' Louis regularly repeated that quote to me and reminded me I can choose what to do with my life and whatever. It was cute, but so gay. Lastly, was the pink and purple duvet. Self explanatory.
"Alright, Krissy. I heard all about number two. I'm so jealous, but let's get on with number three!" Louis laughed.
"Okay..." I reached for the crumpled piece of paper in my pocket. "Number three: jump into a pool fully clothed."
"Well, lucky for you, we haven't closed the pool for the winter yet. Do you wanna jump in now?" Louis asked, going over to the window and gazing at his swimming pool outside.
"Sure, that's why it's on the bucketlist, silly. C'mon!" I enthused as I rushed towards the door. Liam and Louis followed.
Liam and I waited my the back porch for permission of his parents but they were so laid back we knew they'd say we could.
"Be careful," I heard Johanna sigh as Louis came rushing out of the house and out to the garden.
The air was cold but the sun was still up. Louis and Liam carefully placed their phones and wallets on the deck table as I gazed at the setting sun.
"Krissy..." Liam dragged out the 'ssy' part of my name.
"Yeah, coming." I turned my gaze from the sun and took my phone out of my hoodie pocket and took of my shoes. Last, I pulled off my wig and felt free again and scratched my head. "Ready?"
The two boys nodded and I proceed to walking to the back of the garden, where the three of us normally ran and jumped in from. Louis and Liam followed me and each took one of my hands. "1... 2... 3..." the three of us sprinted forward hand in hand and just as we got to the edge of the pool, I leapt in, expecting the boys to be by my sides. I got to the surface of the water and saw they were still on the ground, laughing uncontrollably at me.
"Hahahaha," Liam laughed, "she fell for it!" He giggled, slapping my knee.
"You're so silly Krissy!" Louis agreed.
"You guys! I can't believe you did that to me," I pouted as I swam towards the edge of the pool and gripped the wall. "Here, help me out." I stuck out my hand and Liam grasped it, but instead of getting out, I tugged him in with me. Once he was above the surface, I jumped on his back. "Payback!"
Louis obviously felt lonely on the ground by himself because next thing we knew, Louis was also underneath the water and swimming towards us.
"Well done, Krissy. Three things done already!" Louis high-fived me.
"I know. I'm really proud of myself for that actually." I smiled. I was proud because last year, I wouldn't have been able to set foot in a pool as I hadn't a clue how to swim. Louis and Liam had given me lessons over the past year and I now was up to their level. They're great teachers.
"Well, you can thank me for that." Louis beamed me a smile.
"And me!" Liam shouted from under me before he flipped me off his back and I flopped int lo the pool again.
"Yeah, yeah." I giggled when I regained my breath.
For about an hour, we stayed in the pool and horsed around before it got too dark. We then wrapped ourselves in towels and I got some of Lottie's old clothes to wear before heading home with Liam after thanking the Tomlinson's for a great night.
