CHAPTER 18: ALIVE

I didn't know what happened after the blackout but I found myself coughing out water while on the floating cottage. Either side of me were Jin and Taehyung, the others were all looking down on me as I lay down on the cold bamboo floor of the cottage.

"Where's Soobin?" I asked, my throat hurting.

"He passed out. He coughed out water already, but he passed out right after. Yoongi already called medical help. They're on their way," Jin explained. "I'm so sorry for not coming with you. This is all my fau-"

"It's no one's fault. The waves got bigger suddenly," I said. "Is Beomgyu alright?"

"He's beside Soobin," Taehyung answered worriedly. I tried sitting up, but my body felt weak, I still couldn't move my legs. "You need to rest."

Jin carried me inside the rest house and left the girls with me to help me change clothes. Soon enough, the Mins' family doctor came inside the room. He told me we were lucky to have survived that near death situation, especially when we were both underwater for a long time. But Soobin was brought to the nearest hospital for better facilities, with Seokjin and Hoseok assisting him there. The doctor told me to take a rest until I get back my whole body's strength and then left after that.

For dinner, Namjoon and Beomgyu brought me food and ate inside the room with me.

"I really thought Soobin hyung and noona wouldn't be saved," Beomgyu said, on the verge of crying even when we were just eating quietly seconds ago. "The wave made him slip off the cottage without his life jacket fully closed."

"It's a good thing he still got ahold of his life jacket when he got off the cottage," Namjoon added. "I was practically preventing myself from crying in front of Jennie as we waited for the others to get the two of you back to the house. That girl straight up bawled her eyes out as soon as she realized we weren't complete."

I reached out my hands, waiting for them to hold them. They quickly got the message of my gesture as they held my hands in no time. "I guess this is my second chance, Soobin as well. We didn't die because there must be something here we haven't finished yet. So don't go crying here, Gyu. I'm fine now, I'm sure Soobin is too."

Beomgyu sniffed. "Technically, you didn't die because Taehyung hyung did CPR on you but yeah, what you said." He chuckled. "But I really got really scared when Taehyung hyung scolded JB hyung when noona was still unconscious."

I was about to bite the lamb skewers I was holding when Beomgyu's words caught my full attention. "Taehyung did what now?"

"Jin hyung pulled you up while Taehyung hyung pulled Soobin. Jin hyung was good in giving you chest compressions but when he was about to give you rescue breaths, he suddenly had second thoughts until Taehyung hyung pushed him away and continued the procedure." Beomgyu then giggled. "Hyung kissed you and Soobin hyung."

I felt like my hearing suddenly stopped after he said the word "you".

Taehyung.... Kissed me?

It's CPR. It's not a kiss.

Okay, that's not really a big deal. He was just rescuing me. It was completely wholesome. I shouldn't think about that.

"Seriously, Beomgyu? Come on, he was just as scared as we were back there," Namjoon told Beomgyu before looking at me. "Taehyung got mad at the other boys who were with you because he thought they didn't put more effort in helping you find Soobin."

"Good thing Hoseok hyung and Jimin hyung interfered because I swear I saw Taehyung hyung clench his fists already."

"Taehyung just couldn't control his feelings when it comes to you, sis." Namjoon chuckled. "The boy's in too deep."
