Chapter fourteen: Veronica

~Reader's POV~

Meliodas walks out of the ring. "Hey guy-" He was cut of by Diane snaking his heads "Don't scare us like that Captain!" She whispered loudly. "Haha Sorry.." He rubbed the back of his head. Suddenly I feel a hit of pain. Man this again, I hate my hunger. "Meliodas can you c-come here..?" I say shyly.

The others look at me weird but Meli looks at me like he understands but we all suddenly feel a rush of power. "(Y/n)-" He starts before suddenly stopping, looking up at the sky. I sharply inhale, and gaze in the same direction. "Sorry, (Y/n)." Meliodas says apologetically. "But can this wait?"

I nod while he and I get back up in the ring. The others are quick to join us on in the ring. "My real identity is captain of the Eight Deadly Sins, I'm Meliodas, the Dragon Sin!" He shouts. I hear words of confusion exchanged, and even some people asking "Wait, isn't there seven deadly sins?" 

"We're taking over Vaizel and everything here belongs to us now! I'm giving you less then one minute to clear out of this town, understand? If you don't, we're gonna kill you all!" Meliodas continues. The people start yelling back, but refuse to move, not believing him. "GET THE HELL OUT!!" He yells, and everyone starts to scream, but not running quite yet, it's honestly annoying.

Suddenly, someone points out giant fireballs flying towards the village. Meliodas jumps up to counter the fireball heading in our direction. "Dammit I thought I had more time." He whispered. It gonna be hard to fight with my hunger right now but one hell of a great practice! "Guila's gotten a lot stronger than she was at the Necropolis. And what's worse is there's three knights this time. Let's split up for now." Meliodas, Ban, Diane, and King all separate.

I stay with Meli we head to the town to help evacuate citizens, or in Meliodas's case, try to fight the intruders.  We make it outside the town before running into Guila, who he greets nonchalantly. "I've learned a lot since our battle at the Necropolis." Guila tells him. "I am here today for a review session of sorts."  "So you're here for revenge. Isn't that what you mean?" Meliodas corrects, and reaches for his sword. "Okay, no biggie, I'll take you on."  

"I doubt that." Guila cheerfully quips. "You're no longer much of a challenge." She waves her own weapon towards us, and several small balls resembling explosions  surround us. Well at least she noticed me. "If I get careless and touch one of those things, I'm guessing they'll explode on me. It's a hassle, but I'll get rid of them, one by one." Meliodas says, getting ready to disable the magical explosives.

Is he dumb? Guila smiles. "They'll explode on their own. It doesn't matter how careful you are." She explains as the chain reaction starts, sending us flying. I sigh as we hit Ban in mid air, thumping to the ground. I crawl out of the scabbard, a little bruised, but nothing compared to my captain.

I use my invisibility card. I look up to see Hawk and Elizabeth standing on one side of us, while Guila and another girl, refered to as Jericho, stand on the other. They seem to be discussing their objective, and point out that their most powerful enemy is still at large. Just then, King's voice rings through the air. "Hey, Captain! It looks like everyone has been evacuated." He calls, floating above us casually. He notices Ban and Meliodas on the ground just as Guila sends her chain explosion to surround him.

"Darn it!" He yells as the explosives envelop his space. The explosions clear to show King unharmed, surrounded by his own Sacred Treasure. "Just kidding." He says, not at all phased. He continues to counter their every attack with ease and defeats them without much of a hassle.  "You sure did a number on them, King!" Hawk yells, trotting up closer to us. "Meli and Ban somewhere safe I'll be there too I'll bring Eli and Hawk" I say. "Will do!" He replies, grabbing Meli and Ban and running as quickly as he could.

Alright my turn. I walk over to Elizabeth and Hawk. I bend down to talk to Hawk. "Follow King with Elizabeth on your back" I whisper. He nods and runs off. I use a card and I start flying after them. We finally arrive at a small building a ways out from the village, and stop so that Hawk can rest.  "Are you two alright?" I ask Hawk and Elizabeth, panting.

She squeals but nods. I walk over to Meliodas and Ban, rolling my eyes the two reckless fools. "What am I ever going to do with you two?" I ask. "Always getting yourselves beaten up by opponents who don't even have half your strength." These dumbass's..

I look over to Eli and I'm is she.. "Um, Elizabeth?" I says tentatively. She turns to face me. "Yes?"  "I think that you're, maybe, growing?" I say with a small smirk. She looks down and get scared. I summon a card that could help and I found that out a few days ago it's very helpful. I summon a uniform and summon Dianes  things to her since she should be changing too.

King looks away shyly and blushing mad. "I'm done" I turn around and turn myself back invisible. "(Y/n-" she got cut off. "Elizabeth!!" Someone yells. "It cant be.." she turns around and starts running and hugged the person waittt isn't that Eli's sister....  Veronica starts to explain how the Seven Deadly Sins, especially Meliodas, are awful and were planning to overthrow the kingdom.

I bite my lip to keep myself from correcting her as well as SMACK her. Elizabeth protests and tries to tell her sister that Meliodas would never do something like that. Veronica grabs Elizabeth and tells her that they're going home. Elizabeth struggles against her grip. I through a card and Veronica goes flying, hitting her bodyguards body.

I turn myself visible and allow them to see me, standing in front of Elizabeth. "Hey, Veronica, is it?" I ask. "Look, I understand wanting to protect your younger sibling, but usually when they struggle against your grasp, you need to accept that they can make their own decisions and back the fuck off" I say, turning around to see a shocked Elizabeth.

"Wipe that shocked look off your face. I'm a member of the Eight Deadly Sins for a reason, so don't act surprised." Elizabeth nods and blushes. I smirk. "It's exactly like Hendrickson said." Veronica says angrily. "He told us you brainwashed her somehow, and it looks like you've done just that!"  I roll my eyes. "We didn't-  Suddenly, Veronica takes off her necklace and recites a spell.  "Rosco, Basla, Melcito."  I curse as the purple gem starts to glow and spin.

"Goddess Amber? As if I didn't have enough to worry about?" The Amber's light dodges me as I try to get in its way and envelops Meliodas, who wakes up just in time to get sucked into the demon trap. I grad his hand but it sucks me in too.

"Oh well this is great.." I say sarcastically. "Meli you awake yet." I ask looking at him. "Wish I wasn't I can feel me getting out of control.." He says. I nod in agreement. "Hey but that means I don't have to drink your blood!" I try to lighten the mood but us being in here bring back stuff that we don't want to remember. We stay in silence and start to lose ourselves slowly.
