"A Night to Remember"
As the night slowly goes deep, the Lost Boys started to get tired. Some were yawning and some even fell asleep already. They can seriously sleep anywhere.
Peter ordered Felix to get them back to camp. As they were leaving, Peter stopped Madeline. "Not you, Madeline."
She turned to him and rose her brow. He gestured his finger 'come here'. "Is something wrong?"
Peter glanced to see if Felix and the Lost Boys already left then he turned to her. "I believe we still haven't got a chance to dance?"
Madeline blinked twice and scoffed. "What?"
Peter just ignored her and bowed and reached out his hand to her. "May I have this dance, your highness?"
Madeline was surprised and speechless. She smiled and took his hand. "I would be honored. But, I don't really know how to dance, y'know?" Peter chuckled, "Then I'll teach you."
Peter led her to the center. "This one's here." He put her right hand on his left shoulder. Then he placed his on her waist. She stiffened and silently gasped. He tried his best not to laugh at her reaction.
"Then lift this up." Madeline followed as Peter hold her other hand, and lift it up slightly. Their position was like those dances she sees on a fairytale cartoon. "Then look at me."
Madeline turned and met his lively green eyes. Every time she stared at them, it was like she's being drawn in. "Follow my lead."
They started to dance slowly. Madeline kept looking down at their feet. "I said look at me, Madeline." Peter reminded her.
"Oh, right. Sorry." She turned her eyes back at him. "Since when did you learn how to dance?" She started to ask. "A long time ago. Back when I used to go to the balls with Rumple's mother."
Madeline looked away for a second, feeling that pang of jealousy again. "And you're the first one I've actually danced with for a long time." She looked at him. She smiled. "Peter..."
"Yes?"
"I just want to thank you."
"For what?"
"For all of this. The party, this beautiful gown, teaching me how to dance and... For letting me have a wonderful night."
Peter stared at her silently. He was thankful that she doesn't have supernatural powers that can hear his heart skip a beat. "Though my family isn't here tonight. Thank you, for giving me a night to remember."
"You're welcome, love."
Madeline smiled and rested her head on Peter's chest. He was surprised, but he leaned his head on hers, closing the space between them.
Both of them were silently dancing, but the silence was comforting. They hoped the night would last forever.
"This is definitely a night I will remember." Madeline whispered. "So will I." Peter silently replied. He thought, maybe, if the one on the prophecy wasn't Madeline, this wouldn't be so messed up. Maybe, he really would have fallen in love with her, no other ulterior motive. And maybe, choosing wouldn't be this hard. Just thinking about it makes Peter's head hurt. He let out a sigh.
