The rain poured mercilessly, just like it did in the story. The only difference was, there was no Ember, no car that would hit Ella, and there was my soul which was stuck in Ella's body.

Everything ached and I felt like I would fall if I tried to stand up at any moment. Gritting my teeth, I fisted my hands and used them to get up off the concrete sidewalk. There was no one around me who noticed my struggle as everyone rushed to get shelter from the pouring rain.

My feet slightly wobbled and I finally noticed the pair of heels I was wearing. They were made of glass, and were just like the ones Cinderella may have worn to the ball where she met her prince. Ella's heels looked fragile but I couldn't dream of taking them off in fear of accidentally breaking, or losing them. I knew from just one look that they probably cost more than my entire house did in my previous life. Strangely, just as the thought of my house appeared in my mind, it disappeared just as quickly.

I paid no mind to it, and adjusted my feet into the soles of the heels. Gently testing the sturdiness of the heels on the sidewalk, I walked carefully towards a café that seemed vaguely familiar from Ella's memories. The moment I opened the door, I smelled the fresh scent of coffee beans hit my nose; the coffee scent soothed my aching muscles and brought a sense of lightness to my heavy heart.

The warm atmosphere of the coffee shop enveloped me instantly and I could feel my body already starting to warm up and re-heat itself.  With no-hesitation I slipped into the coffee shop and sat down at the nearest empty table. My soaked clothes luckily didn't draw any attention as it was pouring outside. I just made sure to cover most of my face with my silky strands of glittering blonde hair, just in case, so Ella's beauty wouldn't garner any attention.

I could feel a small smile creep into my face as I thought of how this had been one of the first times I had felt so relaxed. For some reason, as I tried to recall the reason of my stiffness in my previous life, my brain turned up with nothing but foggy flashes of memories. The people in those memories were blurred and just trying to concentrate on the faces made me clutch my head in pain. All of a sudden, I felt someone run into my shoulder and I fell to the cold ground.

Flashes of people laughing entered my memories. I felt as though I was living in that moment but I wasn't there. Blurred faces and cold, but familiar touches. That was all I could remember. In a span of just a few minutes I had forgotten almost everything.
