"You really set up a hammock? Just for us?" Ellie asked as you gripped her hand tighter, pulling her along the trail.
You grinned as you nodded, subconsciously tugging her closer. "It's right around...here!"
Letting go of Ellie's hand, you pushed away a low tree branch, the sun catching your eyes. Ellie looked over your shoulder, her eyes sparkling as she looked at the view in front of her.You had led Ellie all the way from Jackson to an open view of the mountains and the town. There you had hung up a hammock. It had taken a while, but you definitely thought it was worth every second. Especially with the view of the sunset you had managed to capture.
"This is...amazing, y/n!" Ellie exclaimed, taking a few steps forwards and running a hand along the fabric of the hammock.
"I'm glad you like it! I had to trade a ton with those people that came through last week. I had to trade even more just to get instructions on how to set it up," You confessed, walking up next to her.
She stayed quiet as she laid down on the
hammock, shifting as she got comfortable. Once she stopped, she grinned and looked over at you, holding her hand out. "Come lay with me."Her smile was contagious, as it spread to your own lips. You took her hand and attempted to get on the hammock with her. "I'm hoping this holds both our weight,"
She laughed as you straddled her waist for a moment and then lowered yourself, head in the crook of her neck. Ellie shifted once again, letting her right leg dangle off the edge, her shoe grazing the grass-covered floor.
You relaxed as a cool breeze swept over the two of you, the sweet smell lulling you to sleep. Yawning, you hugged Ellie tighter.
"Someone's tired," Ellie joked, softly stroking your hair.
"Of course I'm tired. I worked hard to get this thing up here," You said, looking up at her. She was smiling down at you, and you gladly returned it. A small silence made its way over both of you. Ellie kept glancing from your eyes to your lips, and you felt relieved when she asked, "Can I kiss you right now?"
Without warning, you laid your lips on top of hers, the feeling of her slightly chapped lips against yours calming you. She placed her hand on your cheek, moving your face closer to hers as she kissed you.
Pulling away, you two shared a smile before you rested your head on her chest again. Your eyes slowly shut due to exhaustion.Ellie began to hum, her chest vibrating against your ear. With her right foot, she began to sway the hammock, slowly lulling you to sleep. When she started to hear your breathing even out, she whispered an I love you, moving her eyes from you to the beautiful sunset that kissed the horizon.
