The casino did well under Ruby's watchful eyes as the devil took a more superficial roll. He came out and mingled with people around the casino, drank with then, smoked with them, gambled for their souls and the like but most of the actual management of the casino went to ruby though she refused to actually help him collect souls and would even go so far as to deter people from doing that which would often lead to the devil calling her into his office and long loud screaming matches would ring out across the casino.

After some time most people didn't bat an eye at the screaming and fighting until one day something changed that would change their relationship forever.

The casino had been open for a few hours now and all seemed go be going well. Wheezy manned the bar and Phear the poker tables while chips managed the craps tables and everyone else ran around helping where they were needed.
It wasn't a terribly busy night so ruby took a moment to lean on the bar and have a drink with wheezy.
She wore the top of the line fashion for a woman in the early 1900s, a long sleeved red dress with thin white stripes that ran down in an even pattern. She looked lovely for the era. Sexy even considering she's shoulders were exposed. She found how style changed to be so amusing. She remembered wearing nothing but burlap as a child and being fine and now she wasn't properly dressed unless she had on three layers of underwear and a corset before putting on her dress.
She chuckled at the thought as wheezy handed her a cocktail and he smiled, "what's so funny boss?" He asked in his thick accent, his voice scratchy from years of smoking.
"Oh nothing that won't change in ten years." She said with a shrug as she went to sip her drink when her eyes landed on the devil who seemed to be staring intently on a young woman at Phear's poker table. She seemed to be on a winning streak and ruby knew what that meant. "Fucking Christ on a stick not today satan." She muttered, placing her drink on the bar and making her way over to the woman who smiled at her excitedly.
"Lady ruby! What a pleasure it is to meet you!" She said, extending her hand to her which ruby happily shook.
"The pleasure is mine sweetie. Listen. You'd better get the lead out b'for my boss comes over here to snatch up that pretty little soul of yours." She warned and the woman's eyes got wide and turned to see the devil, now glaring in her direction as he saw ruby speaking to his prey.
"Oh my! Yes ma'am! Thank you!" She said, quickly folding her hand and taking her winnings and leaving, much to ruby's joy. Another day, another soul saved from her crazy ex's clutches.
She turned to walk back to the bar to get her drink when she heard the all to fimiliar bellow of said ex call out to her, "ruby! My office! Now!"
She sighed and gave wheezy a smile and he nodded. He knew when ruby was with the devil he was in charge.
Ruby turned on her heal and went to follow Satan to his office and he held the door open for her and shut it behind her as they entered.
"Ruby I have been so patient with you. Done everything I can to get you to butt out of my deals and happenings around here and yet at almost every turn I find you there to sabotage me. Why is that?"
"Maybe because not everyone who's having good luck deserved to have their souls ripped from their chest and sent to your eternal pits of fire?" She said, crossing her arms and glaring lightly up at the tall dark creature before her who snarled.
"You get under my skin and onto my very last nerve almost every time you open your big mouth."
"You don't even have to open your mouth to annoy me luci.." She bit back, rolling her eyes.
She could tell he was getting really upset now as he started shaking and his tail started swaying angrily back and forth. "You need to learn your place."
"Learn my place?! My place?! What is my place? What is it exactly? I'm dying to hear what you have to say! Cause you know, I know exactly where your place is you lazy noaccount good for nothing over grown CAT!"
Silence fell after the sound of a loud slap and a crash rang out over the casino.
None of the customers or employees moved. None of them breathed. They'd never heard those two make that noise...
Wheezy was about to go check on them when the office door opened and ruby stepped out, tears in her eyes and a red hand mark across her face. She quietly shut the door and walked out onto the main floor, looking up to see everyone staring at her in shock and wheezy stepped out from behind the counter to come to her, to hold her to help her to do something for her when she took off like a bullet and out the front doors, her wings sprouting from her back as she flew and she took to the sky above.
Her Lucifer really was gone... and so was his ruby. She realized the second his hand his her face that the two of them had died off years ago.
