The ship they had gotten on did not in fact go to the main land but a small cluster of islands off its coast called Inkwell. There wasn't really much there aside from a small v illiage that God's Treasure Chest did trade with. They made inks in many vibrant and different colors here and the people looked very different from what Lucifer and ruby were used to but honestly neither of them minded. They were just greatful they were able to slip off the ship unnoticed and into the woods bear the v illiage.
"Why did you run ruby?" Lucifer asked
"Luci... those were the crown jewels standing over us. If they had caught me... they'd have kill me. I entered the Parthenon uninvited. No one can do that and live!" She explained as if it were as plain as day and Lucifer's ears went back on his head.
"Oh... I didn't know..."
She sighed and nodded. "It's ok. I forget that you're not always hovering over my shoulder so there's stuff you miss."
She sat down in the grass and leaned up against a tree, the breeze blowing over her gently.
"Where are you gonna sleep tonight?" He asked.
Ruby swallowed and shrugged. "Hey I'm used to sleeping outside what with my mom being the way she is and this place doesn't look too dangerous. I should be fine under a tree until morning."
He sighed and nodded, moving to sit next to her. "I'd stay but... my brothers all saw me.. they're pretty mad. I'll have to go home for the night."
She took his hand and squeezed it. "Hey your dad is forgiving right? Just tell him you're sorry." She encouraged and he smiled and rested his head on her shoulder. He didn't know what he would do without his best friend.

When she fell asleep Lucifer left her under the tree and flew up into the clouds to find the pearly gates and he entered and saw all his brothers waiting for him, their arms folded in disappointment.
"Hi...guys..." He said nervously, his ears laying flat on his head.
"Father wants to speak with you lucifer." Michel said, pointing to the temple across the clouds and Lucifer sighed.
"Yeah I kinda figured.." He said kicking up a little cloud dust and he flew over to the temple and entered.

From that day Lucifer was far more quiet, even when it was just him and ruby. It wasn't like he didn't have fun with her but he wasn't mischivious or nearly as playful as he used to be.
He wouldn't tell ruby what was said either and when she would ask he would just shake his head and go silent for a few hours, zoning out.
It was those moments that made ruby grow to detest God over the next few years. She stopped praying and worshiping like she had used to love to do. She hated what he had done to her best and only true friend.

Ruby lived on the island with a fair amount of ease. The people of inkwell didn't mind her. They honestly didn't really notice her that much as she kept her head down most of the time she was in the villiage and the rest of her time she spent out in the forest.
She built a small home out of stones and mud and fallen logs and lived comfortably.
She grew strong and into a beautiful young woman by the time her 18th birthday rolled around.
"Hey luci?" She asked as she laid in an open field, gazing up at the clouds with Lucifer on her birthday.
"Yeah ruby?"
"How old are you?" She asked, realizing she had always just assumed he was her age.
"Well in human years I'm about 2000 years old. Heaven years I'm only about 19." He explained and she looked at him, stunned.
He had grown as well. His wings were fuller now, far more fluffy and the fur on his chin was longer and more beard like that just fur. His body was also more muscular and tall compared to when they were children and she blushed when she looked him over, quickly looking away.
"Why do you ask?"
"I was just...curious... I have another question."
"Shoot."
"Are angels allowed to fall in love?"
He blinked and turned to look at her, seeing the red color on her cheek to match her long curling red hair and eyes as she looked off away from his gaze. She really was a vision.
"I...don't know. I don't think it's ever happened before." He said softly and he watched as she rolled up onto her side and looked into his eyes.
"Would you ever want to fall in love?" She asked.
He too rolled up on his side and smiled shyly, "I think so...yeah."
She smiled back and inched closer. "With another angel?"
He shook his head and inched closer too, reaching out to brush away hair from her face.
"With a human?" She asked softer, looking deeply.
He nodded slowly. "What about you ruby? Do you ever want to fall in love?"
She swallowed and nodded.
"With a human?" He asked and she shook her head, making him turn red on his cheeks and ear tips.
"With an...an angel?"
She smiled a little more and nodded.
He reached out again and caressed her cheek. "Ruby... i..." before he could stop himself his lips were pressed to hers and he moved to lay over top of her, his wings puffed out in excitement as they kissed. He never knew this is what love was going to feel like but he enjoyed every second of it. Now if only he could get love from his father and brothers...
