Lightspark sat with her tail curled neatly on her paws, Icefrost was grooming Brightkit as she stood in the center of the clearing. Brightkit's light brown fur glowed in the sunlight, her blue eyes glittering with excitement. In the distance, Talon spoke to Talonclaw and Duskfall. Dove was standing beside Icefrost and Dovetuft was sitting a few tail lengths away.
Lightspark glance at Sunstar who waited for all the cats to settle down. "All cats old enough to catch their own prey gather here beneath the MeetingBoulder for a Clan meeting!" she yowled. "Today, Brightkit has reached her six moons!"
"Six moons!" Lilyheart muttered quietly into Lightspark's ear. "Six moons! She is still five moons. Sunstar must be so desperate."
Lightspark flicked her away. "She's nearly six moons." she hissed under her breath. "Just a few more weeks."
"Brightkit—from now on until you earn your warrior name, you will be known as Brightpaw."
Brightpaw glanced at Sunstar, her blue eyes glittering. "Your mentor will be Lightspark! Lightspark, you did well with Dovetuft. I hope you pass down your courage and swift moves to Brightpaw." Lightspark hesitated, she nodded.
Lightspark padded over to Brightpaw and pressed her muzzle on her head. Brightpaw flicked her tail. Lilyheart padded over to Lightspark. "Lucky you! I wish it would have been me!" she murmured.
Brightpaw shifted. "What will we do, Lightspark?" she squeaked.
"First we can see the territories." Lightspark told her, she reminded herself of when she had first begun training and when she and Mistleheart would battle train together. Shaking the bittersweet memories away, Lightspark flicked her tail so her new apprentice would follow.
They entered the lush green forest, Brightpaw padded behind her. Her head was low. "I heard that owls live around here." the tiny she-cat mewed. "Is that true?"
"Yes, it is true." Lightspark replied simply. "But you'll find more near the second SharingRocks."
Brightpaw looked puzzled. "We'll see CliffClan first." Lightspark went on, her ginger fur glowed in the sunlight, happy, her thick ginger tail stuck out in the sky happily.
They trekked over to the mountains and stopped when they reached the grasslands. Brightpaw's eyes grew wide, "that's amazing!" she yowled.
"Yes it is, isn't it?" mewed Lightspark. "My brother Pinefrost moved here, you might not know him. But he had seen you when you were just a tiny scrap of fur."
Brightpaw's tail bushed out. "Now, let's see BreezeClan!" Lightspark meowed.
They ran through the forest, Brightpaw staggered behind. Tripping on her tiny brown paws. Lightspark had to stop a few times so she could catch up to her. "How do you run so fast?" panted Brightpaw.
"Practice." Lightspark replied. "You'll get used to it." she told her.
They reached the fallen tree, Lightspark scrambled to a halt. Brightpaw followed at her heels. "What do you smell?" Lightspark urged.
"I smell fish, salt water, and a few yucky smells." Brightpaw wrinkled her nose.
"Those 'yucky smells' are BreezeClan cats." Lightspark meowed to her. "They smell bad, but it helps cats know which Clan they belong to. And plus, we smell as bad as them. We're not made of roses!"
Brightpaw purred. "Second SharingRocks!" Lightspark meowed, she took off running again.
They reached the second SharingRocks, Brightpaw scrambled onto the warm surface of the rock. She sighed, "I'm glad this is only for us!" the tiny apprentice squeaked.
