Chapter 14: Somebody That I Used to Know

Axel

And I don't even need your love

But you treat me like a stranger and that feels so rough

"I know your name," I said boldly.

But in reality, I wanted to pretend that this never happened. That I never met her. That she never came into my life and destroyed what were already shattered pieces.

But then I would be lying to myself. Because this... this demon... entangled me with her lies and enamored me with her smiles. That even knowing what she is and what she did, I still want to press that soft body into mine and hold her for dear life.

"Axel." She began to plead.

"How do I know it was not all lies?" I tell her voicing my thoughts.

She took a step forward, I took a step back. I saw hurt cross her face squeezing my heart. I wanted to tell her that it's not her. I wanted to tell her that I'm scared of what I might do if she gets any closer. That the distance I created was to prevent me from making more of a mess.

But I stayed silent. And waited for my answers. Answers that at this point I feel I deserved.

"Axel let's just talk about it inside." Her voice cracked.

And for the first time, I noticed the puffy eyes and red nose. Her milky skin did not have its usual shine, instead, it was dull and lifeless. Her curls were held up in a bun and she was wearing an oversized sweatshirt. I have never seen her in such a state.

But she was still beautiful. She still could have you wrapped around her little finger with just one look.

With every ounce of will that I owned, I said, "I don't trust you."

This seemed to stab her right through her heart as she visibly flinched and slumped forward. I was destroying her. But was it even real? Or is this all just a glamour.

I could see Asmy starting to stumble a little and, in a blink of an eye, Timore showed up all mighty and powerful.

Asmy stepped towards me again and this time I, held my ground as she approached me. She took another step and stumbled forward. Out of instinct, I reached out to help her only for Timore to snarl at me.

"Haven't you done enough?" Teeth that all looked like canine threaten to rip my throat out.

"Timore, I need to explain." Her voice sounding weak as the seconds passed.

"You're too weak Aileen."

Aileen? Her name isn't Aileen.

Asmy lost her footing again and Timore ignoring her refusal, stepping in to support her body.

Timore snarled at me again and before I could react she clasped my arm tightly. Her claws breaking skin.

"You're coming with us."

And just like she appeared, in a blink of an eye, I found myself in Asmy's studio.

I knew that if I question how she did that, Timore would not give me an answer. If she could have it her way, I would be buried six feet under already.
