Centuries later, they stood side by side.
She learned to be human again.
He learned to be immortal.
Together they learned what it meant to be different from the others.
Neither ever aged. As if time has stood still when the physical body reached its peak maturity before it starts decaying. But what even is time? They both learn that time is what you make it out to be. And when you have an infinite amount of time, you have nothing but patience.
They weren't always perfect. They fought. Her moral values were very different from his. He had a family when she didn't. They spend decades apart.
But in the end, they were the only ones that understood each other.
The only ones that went through that pain together. She was the only one of her kind. And he was the only one who knew what she went through.
With no way to procreate, they continued to roam the world together, apart, as one, as individuals. At the end of the day, they would always find each other again.
Timore looked at them from the distance.
She saw the unmistakable red flames of hers that made her stand out in any crowd. She was as gorgeous as ever. Her sensual attitude was long and forgotten as she wore a knitted sweater with a large puffer jacket to keep her warm. She brought her gloved covered hands up to her face and blew on them, rubbing them together to form some heat within the material.
Timore saw Aileen's lips move as she talked to her partner in crime. He was as handsome as always. A serious face but eyes that always seem to soften for Aileen.
Timore couldn't blame him. Aileen was a character, she was one of a kind. You were lucky if you got a chance to be graced by her presence.
Timore saw Axel reach over and put an arm around her shoulder bringing Aileen to him. He rubbed her shoulders in an attempt to provide warmth in the snowy Moscow evening. After a while, they pulled away and hand in hand walked further away from Timore.
Timore wanted to chase after them. She wanted to talk to her, to hear her voice again. But Timore knew that if she did, she would break her fragile reality.
Timore knows how hard Aileen has tried to put everything in the past and move on. She had her knights follow her for years, keeping tabs on Aileen. And sadly Timore knew that if Aileen saw her, she would be reminded of the world she left behind.
With one last sigh, Timore turned the opposite direction of the two and walked away.
She had a job to do.
After all, a queen is never done with work.
