Chapter 8: One More Night

"Try to tell you no but my body keeps on telling you yes

Try to tell you stop but your lipstick got me so out of breath"

I step foot in the ship as I take in all the glamour and luxury surrounding me. The ship, The Leviathan, was massive with beautiful detailing. Some say The Leviathan is the replica of The Titanic and I can see how.

So, this is how it feels to be wealthy.

I shake my head with a secret smile and follow the petite blonde with dazzling blue eyes. She turns to make sure I'm still behind her and gives me a glossy smile when her eyes land on me.

"I knew the Armani suit would fit you best." She says adjusting my collar. "Now come, I want to introduce you to some people"

Her sugar voice surrounded my ears as she tugged on my arm to follow her.

"If you don't mind Ms., I think I'm going to go get us some drinks first." I told her gently removing her hand from my arm.

She gave me a pout but nodded and strutted away to a group of posh men and women.

It's been three weeks working as a bodyguard for the princess of a multinational CEO. After Matt found out about my struggles in looking for a job without a high school diploma, he got me in contact with his boss. Turns out that Max's boss recruits bodyguards, whether with legal or illegal experience and pairs them up with people who need it. A protection program, still equally dangerous in some cases, but not illegal work. I even get a W-2, those motherfucking taxes are brutal. Not that I'm complaining, it pays well and it has its perks besides benefits and health insurance. This is how I got invited to the party of the century celebrating with a beautiful girl on my arm.

Once I got to the bar I ordered a glass of Rosé for the princess and glass of Scotch for myself. Although many people would quite literally kill to be here, I feel very out of place to enjoy these luxuries. Especially since a certain redhead vamp with amber eyes is engraved to my mind.

I can't remember much of that night I went out looking for Asmy. I'm not sure if I had too much to drink because it's almost as if I had blacked out. My memories are so fuzzy and unclear and if it weren't for that same bloody dream I have of her, something tells me she would have been erased from my memory.

After a few theories, the one that stands out the most is that she might just be the one who has caused this memory lapse. Which made me come to the realization that she's even more of a mystery. Not only that but, she just might be more dangerous than I expected.

"A glass of Chardonnay please." A soft sultry voice said right next to me.

Speak of the devil.

I almost choked on my drink as I turned to look at her. She looked at me with an amused expression. Those amber eyes holding the secrets of the world

"What's your poison?" She looked down at my drink using the same line I used once on her.

"Scotch." I said raising my glass and her eyes flickered to the wine of glass. "And that's for my assignment." I tried to explain.

Her eyes went wide and her lips turned into a sincere smile of amusement, taking me by surprise. It's the first time I see anything that is not a seductive smile. And that's when I take her in.
