Chapter 16: Seven Devils

Axel

~~~
Seven devils all around you
Seven devils in my house
See they were there when I woke up this morning
I'll be dead before the day is done
I only had seconds to react when I felt the cold dagger pressed against my neck.
"Tell me one good reason I should not tear you to pieces right now," Timore growled.
And for the first time, I understood why Timore's name suited her. Her white eyes held so much fire. Her lips were pulled back almost animal-like bearing her canines at me. Her muscles protruded from her lean figure. And the grip she had on my neck would most definitely stop oxygen from flowing.
She was dangerous. A dangerous, powerful, beauty who was loyal to no end.
And I just sent her friend back to hell.
"I don't have one," I said truthfully and braced myself for the worst,
She releases another growl and shoved me to the floor.
"I will only let you live because I know how much you meant to Asmy."
Timore stepped away and pulled her most favorite trick, disappearing in plain sight.
I rubbed my neck, wincing at the bruises she left. With a sigh, I pushed myself off the floor and left the lonely studio.
Alone with my thoughts, I don't know what would have been worst, getting killed by Timore or having to live knowing I sent Asmy back to hell.
I did the right thing. Right?
People were dying and she was responsible for those deaths. How can you forgive a murderer? What I did was nothing compared to the atrocities she's committed?
If what I did was correct... then why is there so much guilt simmering in the pit of my stomach.
Lost and confused, I headed home to be in solitude.
I was seated in a golden room. The windows covered every wall making the room look almost like it was made out of glass. Off in the distance, I could hear the seagulls conversating with each other while the crashes of waves arose the smell of the salty sea. The orange hues from the horizon directed the golden strokes into the room, making everything look so soft and magical.
I was mesmerized by the view in front of me. I just wanted to soak it in and stay like this forever.
A faint rustle caught my attention as I turned my head.
In the back of me felt like a jungle compared to the ocean view in front of me. Plants of every shape and size adorned the endless shelves against the wall. The trailing plants were so long that no matter how high you put them, they would still drag on the floor. The tall leaves looked as if they were reaching for the sun, wishing to feel the soft caresses.
Then I saw it. In the middle of all the green, the unmissable orange gladiolus. How it's surviving indoors, I have no idea but, it was the center of attention. I stood up and walked to the flower to get a better look
