hey y'all i missed writing fanfictions so you can have this as a treat. also this takes place at val's kick off party so ya lol

poppy talks to branch during/after the kick off party 💞🥳

"Hey party trolls! It's time for the Buddy Dance! Grab a partner and show off your best moves on the dance floor!" DJ Suki shouted. Poppy felt her eyes light up! This would be a perfect opportunity to spend some time with that little gremlin who also happened to be her boyfriend. The pink troll scanned the area to look for a familiar blue fluff of hair. Within seconds, she spotted the troll she was looking for, standing under a tree, away from the crowd. "Hmm, that's strange," Poppy thought, "Usually he'd be out in the crowd with the other trolls.

Poppy sauntered her way over to Branch with a smile on her face. "Branch! What are you doing over here by yourself?" Branch snapped out of his trance and looked down at the joyful troll. "Oh.. hey, Poppy. I thought you knew that I'm not much of a dancer. I usually dance when I'm by myself." Poppy gave him a look and put her hands on her hips. "Oh come on. We both know that's a lie. YOU were the one who decided to go to a whole swing dance AND you even asked me to fancy dance with you at the hairball last year!"

The blue troll looked away from his girlfriend. "S-Sorry, I'm just not feeling the best right now. I think I'm actually going to go home." And with that, he gave Poppy a hug and walked towards the direction of his bunker. Poppy watched as he walked away in sadness. She immediately became sad when he left but eventually pushed her sadness to the side. "I'll go visit him after the party finishes." So, the Queen turned around and went to find her friends and dance with them instead.

Poppy walked to the table where all her closest friends are. "Hey guys, what's up?" Poppy asked. The Snack Pack turned to her and gave her a warm welcome. "Poppy! We missed you!" Biggie said. Poppy pulled up a chair in-between Guy Diamond and Smidge. "What are you talking about? I was only gone for like... 11 minutes."

"We know but usually we're all together at parties. We only split if we're going to get food or if we're looking for someone in particular." Smidge pointed out. Poppy's ears drooped. "Sorry gang. I was just chilling with Branch." Guy Diamond read her face and knew something was wrong. "Poppy, did something happen between you and Branch?" The pink troll blushed. "Uhhhhh, I honestly don't know. He said he wasn't feeling well when I asked him why he wasn't out dancing with the crowd. By the way, that's totally unlike him. He loves dancing." Suddenly, Poppy gasped out loud, causing everyone at the party to turn to her and question her unusual gasp. Embarrassment struck the Queen. She snatched the Snack Pack with her hair and dragged them out the party so she wouldn't have to deal with hundreds of trolls staring at her.

"Poppy? What's going on?" Chenille asked, with her sister, Satin, nodding to agree with her. Poppy sighed. "There can be only two reasons why Branch left. Reason one is that I smell bad and he doesn't want to tell me to spare my feelings or two, I somehow made him upset..?" Smidge stared at Poppy with confusion. "Poppy, first of all, you don't smell bad. Second of all, what could you have possibly done to make him mad?" The small troll asked. Poppy looked down at friend and shrugged. "I have absolutely no idea. Branch isn't the type of troll to just share his feelings. I should probably go see what's up. I'll fill you guys in later." Poppy gave her friends a big squeeze and turned to the direction of Branch's bunker.

When she finally got to the bunker, she knocked lightly on the doormat. "Branch?! It's Poppy! Can I come in?" There was no response for a while until she heard faint shuffling underneath the mat. "Oh.. hey, Poppy. What are you doing here?" Poppy felt her ears perk up at the sound of her favorite troll's voice. "I came to check on you to see if you were feeling better. Can I come in?" Branch was hesitant for a bit but finally said, "Sure" as he fully opened the door mat and let her inside.

The ride down the elevator was silent. At this point, Poppy knew she had done something to make Branch upset because of this... unfamiliar tension going on between them. When they hit the bottom floor, Branch turned to Poppy. "Is there a reason why you wanted to co-"

"Branch," Poppy cut him off, "Are you mad at me?"

Branch was silent. But then he continued.

"Would you like anything to drink or something? All that dancing must've burnt you out." He said. Poppy began to feel a little upset at the fact that Branch was ignoring her question. "No, I don't want anything to drink. I didn't even dance. And Branch, please don't ignore my question. You didn't answer me when I asked if you were mad at me." The blue troll mumbled something under his breath but Poppy couldn't hear him. "Did you say something, Branch?"

The rise of that unfamiliar tension came back. Poppy was scared. Branch lifted his gaze from the floor to stare directly into her pink eyes. Oh what a cold stare it was. "Poppy, I am done." Poppy tilted her head. "Done with what?" She asked. Branch responded. "Being your toy." Poppy was super confused. Toy? What toy?

"Branch...what do you mean 'toy'? You aren't my toy."

"I don't mean toy in the literal sense, Poppy. I'm tired of you using me for so many things like I'm some kind of servant. Just because I'm your boyfriend doesn't mean I have to do EVERYTHING for you. Have you even considered how I feel about being thrown into certain situations?" Poppy felt water in her eyes and blinked them away. "B-Branch, I-"

"Save it Poppy. Right now. I just want you to leave me alone." Poppy's eyes widened. "But, Branch, I-"

"LEAVE, POPPY. NOW."

At this point Poppy was crying hot tears. "Fine. I love you, Branch." No answer. Poppy ran to the elevator and left. She had never felt more heartbroken in her life.
