ADELE BLACK: THE SEQUEL

MY DAD GETS DRUNK

After the Iris message to Annabeth, I walked back into my room, trying to take in all of this information. I couldn't.

Plopping myself down on my bed, I cried into my pillow.

Ew. Isn't that what a Disney princess does?

Anyway, I realized then that maybe they only had a little bit of time left. I wouldn't be able to see them.

My first friends in the whole entire world could possibly die in a matter of months, and I am laying here, sobbing my heart out.

Wow, aren't I a pathetic loser of a person.

I brought myself out of thinking that. I slowly got off the bed like a slug and went and opened the door to my room.

I came face-to-face with George, who was just about to knock on the door.

"Adele, why are you crying?" George asked as he sat down on the bed. I followed him.

"Percy," I choked out, "he went missing. Annabeth.... She is.... Athena gave her her Mark. The Mark of Athena."

"What's the Mark?"

I paled even more than I already had.

"George.... The Mark of Athena is given to children of Athena. They go to Rome and try to capture Athena's statue that the Roman's stole long ago.

"Nobody has ever come back alive. Annabeth had received it.... And.... She might not come back."

He held me tightly, and gave me a kiss on the head.

"From what you've told me, Annabeth is a smart and tough girl. She will get through this."

I sat down on the table, next to George, who was currently laughing like a stupid Aphrodite girl. I'm pretty sure that it was because of how my father was currently acting.

My dad was currently drunk, and it was bothering me so much.

"Did you know," he drawled on, drunkenly, "that when Adele was born, I heard a cry on the doorstep. So, I went outside and I saw Adele crying in an owl-shaped basket."

I looked down and laid my head on the table.

"That's how she was born. Her mother thought of her and then she appeared out of nowhere! I wasn't ready for her. I mean, Athena and I dated for like, four months. Imagine her just giving me a baby in a random day! I broke up Athena since she did that."

George stopped laughing. Good George.

"I didn't want a child then, and I really still don't. I guess that I wanted to get away, so I sent her off to Camp Halfblood when she was one. I was fine without seeing her for about twelve or thirteen years. It was better."

I stood up, and tears trailed down my cheeks.

"IF YOU DIDN'T WANT ME, I'LL GO AWAY! GOOD-BYE BITCHES!"
