17 years later
Eden your holding your sword wrong, Eden your arm needs to be lowered or your arrow wont make its target, Eden a puppy is not going to kill Julianne. I heard all of this plus more on a daily basis from my Uncle Jax. He was in charge of training me to become the savior of the supernatural world, but in all actuality, he was just training me to become more bad ass than I already was.
My situation was not a normal one. If you didnt know my mother and my fathers, yes as in plural, stories than you wouldnt understand mine. My mother, Sophie was 19 when she fell face first into the world of witches and werewolves. Then after that she just fell on beds with legs open, im just kidding. But she did have this thing with her Physics Teacher, my dad Ezra, and then this stupid witch, actually the same one I had spent the last 17 years training to destroy, took destiny into her own hands and then my mother met Ryder, my dad number 2. I grew up in a weird family. Usually when you hear that a kid has 2 dads, you think GAY! But nope not here, Ezra knocked my mom up first and Ryder loved her to much to leave. Epic Romance right there. Then there was Uncle Jax who has always loved my mother for some odd reason, and then there was Aunt Charlee and Uncle Cam who really arent my aunt and uncle, and then...there's Lucas.
WHAP!
"Okay seriously Uncle Jax that hurt!" I cried out as my uncle threw a low voltage energy ball my way. He crossed his arms at me and raised an eyebrow. "Quit daydreaming, daydreaming wont help you when you battle..." I interrupted him. "Julianne, your mother, the most evilest, cruelest, badassed witch this side of the universe, i get it Uncle Jax I really do, but damn, after a while that shit hurts!" I complained. I rubbed my arm where the energy ball had connected and singed my shirt.
"Mom's going to shit a brick that was a satin shirt!" I said. Jax grinned. "Shouldnt wear nice clothes when your training Eden and you know this, now back into position, you still have an hour and a half til school," he reminded me. I smothered a growl that I wanted to let loose and then I closed my eyes let out a breath and calmed all my senses.
I moved. But too late. "I cant do this! I can sense it coming but I cant move in time!" I cried out. I looked down at my silver satin shirt. Another singe was gracing my sleeve. 'Oh for heavens sake!" I yelled as I took the hem and pulled it up above my head leaving me in my silver tank top. 'And now ladies and gents she means business!," a new voice said.
I whipped around and smiled as I saw Lucas. He was Aunt Charlee and Uncle Cam's son. Might as well have been my twin as we were born only hours apart. He was what Uncle Jax called my Guardian. He trained as well, but not with me, because even if it was all pretend, he had a mix of testosterone and overprotection running through his blood and it caused him to shift, and unlike other wolves, when he shifted he went of gut feeling and usually that gut feeling was to kill anything that was or could harm me. and in this situation, that was or could would be Uncle Jax. Lucas trained with Moki, the hippie healer and also what the Solars call the Twilighter because he was a neutral wolf pack and was also Native American.
I ran to him and jumped into his arms and he caught me with ease, embracing me in a bear hug before kissing my head and putting me down. "Im stealing her," he informed Uncle Jax. "She has an hour left," he snapped. "Well she's done for today, its the first day of school we have to get there early, and since no one trusts us with motor vehicles in this family we have to walk to Union," he reminded Uncle Jax. Uncle Jax rolled his eyes and walked away. Sometimes I felt sad for him, everyone had someone in our family but him.
Lucas grabbed my hand and we took off walking. Union was only 10 minutes or so away by car so we could make it there in less than an hour. Hache territory was where we went to highschool. Peril and Union were so close together they just combined funds and bam there was Hache High. It was also within the limits that My dad number one, Ezra, his Forever Life Mate had set up 17 years prior. To keep me safe, and my mom safe from the numero uno evil bitch...err...witch. While she couldnt set foot anywhere besides Harmony or anywhere that was considered off limits, she could send The Luna Pack in to find me. and she had been getting creative. But the Hache, which Union was really only as far as I had ever gone in my entire 17 years of life, were really good at keeping me safe. Whenever a Luna Pack Member would entire a Code Red would ensue and Lucas and I would be in the under ground tunnels that Uncle Cam had had created when I was 5. They ran the length between Union and Peril, and had saved my ass once or twice.
"So how was training with Moki?" I asked to break the silence. Hear I was thinking in my head about this and that and Lucas hadnt even said a word. "Good, " Lucas replied. He took a breath. "Ive successfully stopped shifting in anger," he said. I smiled. That was a big step for him, especially since his shifting was fueled off of his emotions. "Yeah, it only happened once but it felt good not to give into that stupid wolf." he said laughing.
I hit him playfully on his arm. "That stupid wolf is part of who you are, he's just doing his job," I reminded him. He nodded and zoned out into space. I let him alone. We were almost to school anyways. "Eden can I ask you something?" he asked. I stopped walking and faced him. He looked perturbed. 'yeah of course." I replied. "Are you scared?" he questioned. "At this moment, no, but overall, what do I have to be scared of? I have you and I trust you," I told him.
"Im scared," he admitted. "Of what?" I asked. "Scared that I wont be there when you need me and that you wont be able to protect yourself. Im scared that Ill loose you and Im scared of what Im..." he stopped and let out a shaky breath. "Just forget, we got this right?" he said. I frowned for a second what the hell was he going to say? "yeah," I finally replied. "Its you and me against the world, we got this," then we continued to walk to school
