"It's related to the first four clues," Michael said. It was the first input he had put into this conversation. We all turned to him.
"What do you mean," I asked. He moved four sticky notes in front of us. He had written down all the clues. I looked at it but could not see any correlation between them and the last clue. Michael chewed his lip before he pushed another sticky note toward us.
My eyes widened as he explained, "you see the first two numbers," he said.
"When your times them, or as it says connect them you get-."
"Six thousand three hundred and thirty-six," Ty said and then like it dawned on him, his face brightened.
"Which is a palindrome," he said. I look at the number Michael had written.
"A palindrome-factor of each, it says," Eli mumbled under his breath. He looked at it closer before turning to Ty and asking what a factor was.
"So, three," I asked after Ty had finished explaining, "The answer is three."
"Yes," Michael replied, "if I am correct."
My eyes caught the next part of the clue and I bit my cheek as my eyes flitted to the previous clues, "do they mean the other clues, when they say second, third and fourth."
"If they do, what does infinity mean," Jaz asked, "nothing is infinity in the third clue."
"What is ten in the first one then," I asked, wondering why she had looked to the second one when the first part was not clear.
"The star," she said. The star, I raised a brow then idly drew a star on the sticky note.
"What's ten, here," I asked.
"The angles," Eli said. My brows furrowed and I looked back to the star, counting the angles. It had ten. I looked back to the second clue. What had infinity angles in it.
"What about the oak," I said. Jaz looked up at me and then back down.
"Yeah, that makes sense, if you take it like a cylinder," she replied. I looked at the third clue and hadn't looked at it for more than a second when Ty grinned.
"Diamond," Ty said.
"Triangle," Michael said. We all looked up at him.
"What do you mean," Ty asked.
"The little tags mean it's a new part," he said, "what is the common part. The angle."
"So, how did you get the triangle."
"The first part is three, the second part is angle and then they say two parts but both the same. Join both of them, you get a triangle."
I nodded and stood, pleasantly surprised at how fast we had gotten that answer. I turned around for a moment to hide my grin. My emotions weren't as sombre as the rest of them and I didn't want to act heartless.
As I sat back down, a loud alarm sounded across the hall, seemingly vibrating within me. I stood and turned around.
"The alarm," Eli said and then looked back, toward the door, "we lasted longer than we thought."
"We have to leave, right now," I said, picking up the scraps of paper and stuffing them into my jean pockets.
"Jaz keep the key safe," I said, giving her the semi-coin, "make sure it's safe at all times, if anything happens to us, you go with that."
