Just as you were toxic, you were also sweet.
The period of time where we both benefitted each other, and enjoyed each others presence is the time I miss most.
Including that day. With a smile I walked over to the table.
"Is this for me?" I asked you, drawing your attention away from your phone.A grin grew on your still bruised face and you nodded.
I took a seat opposite you and picked up the spoon."I knew your fatass would dig right in." He laughed.
My smile faltered.
But you were just joking so I brushed it off and smiled again."You think I have a fat ass?" I asked you, wiggling my eyebrows and taking a bite of the strawberry cakey goodness.
You scoffed.
"In your dreams."We ate in silence like at breakfast the morning before.
Until finally, you spoke."So... my friend is throwing this party at his house."
"Mmhm" I hummed, drinking my iced coffee.
"Wanna come?" You asked me.
You said it so casually, but you had no idea what it did to me.I felt like my heart was running a marathon and I just couldn't suppress the stupid grin on my face.
"Sure!" I laughed happily.
"When and where?""Next Saturday at eight. His house is near by, do you want to meet up here so we can go together?"
I couldn't have been any happier than at that moment.
"Yes." I replied, the speed in which I spoke didn't go unnoticed by you."Excited aren't you?"
"Well yeah." I shrugged, not even bothering to cover up my giddiness.
You smiled and chuckled and I thought to myself. What if life was always like this?
Laughing together, happy and content.
I wanted that so bad.
But I was wrong.Because we were never meant to be.
Because...
I apologise, I'm going on a tangent again.
I still have... 18 minutes apparently.
Waiting for the train seems like forever. So there I was, staring into your eyes with a beaming smile.
"You still need to put some ice on your bruises. They're still kind of swollen." I pouted suddenly, registering your hurt state.
You sighed and nodded.
"Yes ma'am."We were silent again until you suddenly looked up and leaned closer.
"Y/N... I sincerely want to thank you for yesterday.""I told you, it's no biggie."
"Seriously Y/N. You saved my life."
My breath hitched in my throat momentarily. Your words shot energy through me, like you reinvented my purpose in life. I helped you and I felt so satisfied.
"All in a days work. If you ever need help, you know where to find me." I shrugged, butterflies swarming inside my stomach.
"Actually... it would be better to call you wouldn't it?"
I was blown away. You were actually asking me for my number.
I nodded eagerly like a school girl and we both took out our phones.
Moments later, your name was saved into my contacts as'Taehyungie'
Cute name for a cute guy I thought.
"Well I've got to go to a lecture." You sighed, standing up.
"Oh... sure. See you tomorrow then."
You flashed one last boxy smile before heading out the door.
I had long finished my meal and I was sitting at my usual table that now felt empty without Taehyung opposite me.
Biting my lip, I casted my eyes at the array of cakes on display.
Maybe...No.
I don't need that cake."Hey." A bubbly boy smiled at me.
It was the barista, wiping down a table to my right.
"Oh hey." I smiled. "Slow day?"
The boy motioned to the practically empty cafe and nodded.
"Pretty much."I nodded and pulled out my laptop, thinking the conversation would end there but... it didn't.
Instead, the boy moved on to wiping the table directly in front of mine."You've gotten close to the customer that was sitting here?" He smiled, looking at the empty spot where Taehyung was sitting.
"He bought you your usual order."I nodded and smiled.
"Yeah, seems like we did."The boy sported his usual eye smile and continued wiping down the table.
I casted my eyes to the cakes again. The red velvet one looked really tasty.
"Do you want one? I'll ring one up for you?"I looked back up the blonde boy who was staring back at me with a happy smile.
"N-no." I lied. The boy stopped smiling and tilted his head.
"I... already had one." I chuckled sadly.
The boy grinned and walked towards me.
He grabbed my arm and pulled me up gently, surprising me by the sudden physical contact."Come on." He laughed, pulling me to the till.
"W-what?" I croaked, still shocked at his friendliness.
He made his way around to the other side of the till in stride."I recommend the red velvet one. It's my favourite." He shrugs, pointing to it.
"And I'll give it to you half off. Because you're a regular.""Are you... allowed to do that?"
The boy grinned and nodded."Yeah, my dad owns the store."
"... still, I'm fine. Like I said before I already had one."
The boys smile fell and a solemn expression overcame his gentle features.
He looked at me in the eyes as if he were searching for something. Then he smiled again.
"One more won't hurt."Please star, comment and enjoy <3
