First I saw Andy holding a new bass; it was metallic black and glittering.

“It’s yours.” He said happily, seeing my eyes light up. “I owe you a new one after all.”

“It’s, it’s. It’s awesome! Thank you!” I said hugging everyone.

And then I saw the second one, I wasn’t expecting two.

My mother stepped into the room.

“Mum!” I cried, “What are you doing here?” I rushed up to her.

She laughed, and then hugged me. “You think I’d miss out on my baby’s eighteenth birthday?”

“It was the only condition about letting us take you on tour.” Bradie said coming into the room, followed by the others.

“I’m sorry I didn’t call you mum, I was so busy.” I apologised to her.

“It’s ok iz.” she said kissing my cheek.

“When do you fly out?” I asked her, already dreading the time when I’d have to say goodbye to her again.

She looked at her watch. “I fly out in three hours. Sorry I have to leave early, but the shop is doing a big cater for the Thompson wedding, and it needs to be finalised by tomorrow.”

Jimmy looked at his watch aswell. “Looks like we need those decoys again, the flight fly’s out an hour before the doors open, and you guys still need to do sound check.” He left the room dialling one of the guys from for our hero to tell them about the plan.

The three hours my mother spent with us was spent in fits of laughter, as we told her about the fan girl moments, and about her bad packing skills.

“sorry.” She said embarrassed, I just got the washing basket, which I thought was full of all your clothes and put them in a suitcase. I’ll take them back with me when I go home.”

Then before she was leaving I began to cry again, I was only just getting over being away from my mum, now I had to start all over again.

“Oh, Stacey?” mum said before getting into the taxi.

“Yeah Luce?” Stacey replied.

“Your mum says hi.” She smiled.

I could see the guys trying not to laugh.

“It’s ok, you can laugh.” Stacey said, seeing their failing attempts at keeping composed expressions.

They all instantly broke into song. “Staceys mum has got it going on….”

I could see mum shaking with laughter at the guys’ goofy dance moves as she drove off in the taxi.

I was going to miss her again, but at least she left without tears this time.

The guys finished the song and we all want inside.

“Ok guys, are you ready to go?” jimmy asked, “we got an hour to get there, get ready and have the sound check done before the doors open. Then half an hour before the first band start.”

We all ran to go and get ready for the show.

While getting ready I had to play fight with Shaun for the mirror, we’re both such divas.

I came back in my new skinny legs, the shirt Shaun had given me, and the new plaid jacket I had.

I think I looked pretty good, and I liked the outfit even more when everyone commented on it.

Because I was ready, I took my new bass into the van, sitting down on the backseat, strumming and singing one of my songs to myself while everyone was still coming.

“My lips find yours, the world fades away, it’s just you and me, our bodies sway.”

Surprisingly Shaun came out next. But I didn’t notice until he was standing in the vans door.

“That’s really good izzy.” He said after id finished the song. “You should sing it to all of us sometime.”

I blushed and pushed the guitar away from me. “It’s nothing good.” I insisted. “Just something I came up with last year.”

Never doubt the quality of your songs.” He said getting in and sitting next to me. “I used to think my songs were nothing special, until we got signed. Now were on tour.”

“I guess.” I sighed leaning against the window. “But our band never got anywhere, so we stopped playing, but I never really stopped writing songs.”

“You were in a band?” he asked inquisitively.

“Yeah, we were never really big though, we didn’t even get around to making a name.” I laughed.

Stacey and maddie came out then they were laughing and shoving each other around.

They made me so happy, they were my best friends and I loved them.

“So who was in the band?” Shaun asked me.

“Are you talking about our band?” Stacey asked.

“Yeah. I was just telling Shaun about us.” I sat up straight again, the others would be here soon, and we’d need every seat we had.

“We should try it again sometime.” Maddie suggested.

“Yeah, that would be cool, and we’d have some pretty good help.” Stacey said smiling at Shaun.

“And maybe Amanda could join us too.” I suggested, “She’s really good at the piano.”

After a few more minutes of discussing our band everyone else came out and we were on our way.
