Everyone was everywhere, people were in and out of the room faster then they’d ever been before.
I tried to help as much as I could, but apparently if I lifted something that was too heavy for me it was going to be bad; so I had to sit around and watch.
Someone was always making sure that I was doing nothing, I felt so bad.
Deciding that my help wasn’t good enough, and that I couldn’t take the worried glances from everyone as they entered the room I went outside.
Fans were crowding the door, they screamed at me as I walked past the door.
Great that was the last thing I had on my mind, the fans.
“Always be nice to your fans. They get you where you wanna be. Fans always come first.”
Geoff’s voice rang in my mind. He’d given me the advice a few days ago, in one of the drunken conversations that had occurred in the really early hours of the morning.
I paused on the other side of the door. Staring at the people lined up.
Making sure that my id was in my pocket, and my sharpie I walked outside, bracing myself and clutching my sharpie for all it was worth.
People looked at me like I was an alien; I smiled as I watched the recognition on their faces, eventually they realised that it was me who came out of the venue instead of some random.
A few people screamed; I was just standing there, dumbfounded.
More people screamed as Shaun came out behind me.
I looked at him quizzically, trying to ask him why he was outside with me instead of inside with the others; he smiled back at me but was swamped by fans before he could say anything.
This was exactly what I needed to take my mind off of my helplessness; the fans were demanding every ounce of my attention.
More screams erupted as bradie and maddie came out to join the impromptu meet and greet.
“Hey bradie.” I said as he came to stand beside me, he nodded a quick hello.
The conversation broke as I was pushed into bradie as a fan tried to get to him before anyone else.
He caught me in his arms, much like Shaun had all those weeks ago.
Cameras clicked at the wrong time; I heard bradie utter words that I never thought I’d hear come from his mouth after the first time I saw him.
I quickly righted myself and moved towards the screaming girls with halfway under shirts that were hanging back and talking with maddie near the doors.
Maddie smiled and waved me over, obliging I went and stood with her; she introduced me to the girls she was talking to. There was a familiar face in the crowd around us.
Only after she said my name did I realise who it was, it was Kelly, she was smiling brightly and sporting one of the best homemade shirts that id seen.
Maddie looked at me. “There have been too many home made shirts. I hate it, but I love it at the same time. I hate how they have to make their own stuff, but I love how they do it.”
I nodded at her statement as I signed a fans shirt she held out to me.
“You guys should make some merch.” She stated after I was finished, “I’d buy it.”
The girls around her nodded as well, Kelly hugged me.
“So, Kelly, what are you doing here?” I was wondering why she was so far away from Newcastle.
She smiled at me, the big grin lit up her face, I’d never seen her smile so much; but then again id never seen her that often. “One of the songs I’ve written have been selected in the finals in a competition!” she squealed, maddie hugged her tightly and squealed along with her.
“Hey .That’s cool, congrats.” I said hugging her aswell when maddie was done then slipping away from the group, I felt odd and out of place.
Looking around I saw that people were calming down, some were annoying bradie; I could see his distress “help” he mouthed at me. Maddie was busy so I walked over to him.
“Hello again stranger.” I said.
He nodded at me and shot me a look that clearly said “get me out of here.”
“Hey guys.” I said looking at the fans around him, “we gotta go get ready for the show.” Feeding them the first real thing I could think of.
“Yeah, sorry.” Bradie said apologetically and we went inside, quickly followed by Shaun and maddie.
“That was….. Interesting.” Maddie and bradie said together.
“JYNX!” they yelled; pointing at each other.
“I do believe that you both need to shut your traps because your under a roof.” Shaun said happily.
Maddie launched herself at bradie and they fell into a silently laughing heap on the floor.
