Chapter 2: Bomb Threat

CALIBER'S POV

"That ends our conference for today," The spokesperson said. We all stood up one by one and bid our farewells. The moment I set foot outside the room I loosened my tie and removed my coat.

That conference is exhausting. It feels like I'm a student again since the spokesperson is currently a college professor. Ang dami niyang sinabi about business which I already know about. I think going to this conference would prove useless to me.

I walked towards my hotel room. Before I can swipe my key card my phone started ringing. I looked at the caller ID and saw 'Mom' written on it. I answered it and was greeted by the woman I love most.

"Hello, anak. Kamusta ung conference?" I swiped the key card and went inside the room before answering.

"It was tiring as hell and I think walang silbi ung pag punta ko dito, ma. Everything the spokesperson said earlier are already known by me." I dropped on the bed and felt how soft it is.

"Ganyan talaga anak pero wag ka namang masyadong mayabang. Malay mo bukas ung super duper hectic na conference. Isang araw ka palang naman andyan."

"Ma hindi ako nag yayabang I'm just stating facts. I want to go home now kaso may shooting na nagaganap sa kalye."

"Shooting? Anong pelikula ba anak? Bakit hindi ka dumaan or sumilip man lang. Malay mo i-fire ung actor at ikaw ang ipalit." I heard her giggle which made me chuckle.

"Ma pag sumilip ako dun sa shooting baka hindi na ko makita ulit at tadtad na ng bala ung katawan ko. When I said shooting, I meant guns ma. There are soldiers exchanging shots with terrorists, I think." She shouted from the other line so I took the phone away from my ear.

"Bat hindi mo agad sinabi na may barilang nagaganap diyan? Hindi ka naman ba nadaplisan habang dumadaan ka kanina? Are you okay iho? Can go you hom-"

"Ma stop panicking. The hotel is far from the shooting and yes nadaanan ko ung bakbakan but I didn't get hurt because the soldiers did their best to protect every civilian." I cut her off before she can shot more questions.

"That's good to hear but next time you cut me off, you're going to get it young man." Her voice is threatening which made me gulp. I'm a grown up man but when it comes to mama's rage I fold.

"I'm sorry. You'll throw a lot of questions if I haven't stopped you." I chuckled then a girl with raven long hair with a set of hazelnut eyes flashed through my mind. A smile crept on my face and decided to tell my mother about her. "You know ma I saw a soldier earlier. Sh-"

"Natural anak sabi mo nga diba may barilang nagaganap diyan. Tapos sabi mo pa ginawa nung mga soldiers and lahat to make all of you safe." I frowned at her response.

"Ma pwede wag kang masyadong pilisopo? I haven't even finished my sentence and here you are jumping into conclusions." She laughed really loud and I can imagine her holding her stomach from too much laughter.

"I am not jumping, Cal. I am actually seated next to your father, who is busy reading something I don't know about." I face palmed.

"Ma bat ang pilosopo mo? I know for a fact that I'm younger than you but never did I use that manner of speaking. Parang ikaw pa ung bata sating dalawa. Ung totoo ma? Ako ata ung mama dito e." Irritation is evident from my voice and she just laughed.

"Honey, ano nanaman ginagawa mo sa anak mo?" I heard papa's voice on the other line. "Are you bullying him again? O baka naman pinapasakit mo nanaman ulo niyan?" I heard ma say 'che' then the line died.

"It seems to me that my mother is having her tantrums as of now." I chuckled and looked at the bathroom door. "I should take a bath but I'm too lazy to get up." I argued with myself for a few minutes but decided to take a shower.

After the shower, I didn't bother wearing anything other than the rob provided by the hotel. "The warm shower relaxed all tense muscles I didn't know I acquired through that useless meeting." Looking at the ceiling that woman's face flashed again.

The way her raven hair swayed together with the wind. Those mesmerizing hazelnut eyes containing a strong personality which I think she possess. She's also courageous to the point she'd risk her life just to save others.

"A woman to adore." I smiled and continued imagining her in my head. "I hope I see her again. I just like seeing her angelic face which screams danger." I chuckled at the thought.

Suddenly, someone started banging my door like a mad man. I was startled and didn't know I fell from the bed making a loud thud. "Who the fuck knocks like that?!" I shouted.

I stood up and marched towards the door angrily. I swung it open and a woman wearing the hotel staff uniform is standing in front of my door, shocked and mouth open.

I cleared my throat to get her attention which made her jump a little. "This better be important or I'll ask your manager to fire you." She looked at me from head to toe then gulped before speaking.

"Uhm. K-kasi po m-may b-bo-"

"Pwede mag salita ka ng maayos hindi ung para kang batang hindi pa marunong mag salita. My niece can speak better than you." I coldly said which made her blush.

"Ineevacuate po namin lahat ng guests dahil meron pong bomba dito sa building. Andyan na nga po ung mga militar at sila ang nagsabing ievacuate namin lahat para kung meron man daw pong bomba walang maging casualties." Mabilisan niyang sabi.

"Good, that's better. Hindi naman mahirap mag-explain ng hindi nauutal diba?" She looked down and walked to the next door. Knocking it like how she knocked my door earlier.

I went out of the room and calmly walked towards the elevator but a man in a military uniform stood there. He looks familiar.

"Sir, pasensya na po. Bawal pong gamitin ang elevator sa ngayon. Pakigamit na lang po ang elevator." I nod my head but didn't move a muscle to move aside. "Uhm sir may kailangan pa po ba kayo?"

"You look familiar but I can't pinpoint where I saw you." I squinted my eyes and examined his face closely.

"Ah!" He shouted, raising a hand in the air. "Kayo po ung napagkamalan kong medic nung isang araw. Ang liit nga naman ng mundo."

The image of a soldier about to pee because of the woman's shout flashed through my mind. "Ah yeah. I remember. You were the soldier who ran as fast as possible when the woman shouted." He smiled awkwardly and scratched the back of his head.

"Nakakatakot po kasi talaga si Solar kapag galit," He said. "Sir pasensya na gusto ko pang makipag kwentuhan sa inyo kaso po may emergency evacuation dito sa building kaya kung maari po bumaba na po kayo." I nodded my head and climbed down the stairs.

Would I see her here? I smiled at the thought and proceeded on climbing down stairs.
